Position Overview
The Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), Satellite Software Mission Product organization, is seeking a Senior Software Architect to join our team located El Segundo, CA additional locations Seal Beach, CA.
This position is for a software architect who enjoys being a leader, offering the opportunity to provide overall direction for major sections of our software development staff and programs.
Our team creates the software tools and services for the world’s highest performing satellite/ground systems for
USG and Commercial customers. We work with space customers in the development of the next generation ground systems for all types of space systems. Our program is organized by Integrated product teams working together to launch a rapidly integrated satellite/ground system.
We seek candidates who have advanced skills in software engineering and architecture with domain experience in satellite ground systems.
The Senior Software Architect will be a part of a high-performing program team that is engaged in a proprietary space program. This position is responsible for and has ownership of the ground segment Software Architecture ensuring performance, interfaces, and functional system needs are met. This role leads ground architecture design by engaging with other segments of the program, such as Systems Engineering and Integration and Test (SEIT).
Position Responsibilities
Leads software development projects across multiple sub-projects for continuity
Trains and oversees activities of the software development team
Plans, tracks and schedules software deliverables
Directs solutions for critical challenges involving software and hardware interfaces
Looks for problems within software systems and resolves the issues with root cause and corrective action

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
Basic (Required) Qualifications
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
Experience with satellite payload command and control, mission management, and/or mission processing
Experience as a Software Architect or similar role understanding design patterns and architectural styles
Experience with re-hosting, integrating and verifying existing software solutions
Experience with all aspects of the software development cycle including requirements definition, traceability, testing, qualification and customer acceptance.
Experience collaborating with developers using agile development/collaboration tools (e.g. Atlassian Suite, Bitbucket, Git, etc.) and practices including CI/CD
Experience with Java and C++ programming languages
Preferred (Desired) Qualifications
Experience with cloud computing and virtualization technologies (Splunk, VMware)
Experience with Oracle Analytics Server
Experience with Domain Controllers, DNS, SNMP
Experience with SW test automation, Jenkins
Experience with Tcl/Tk, Perl, Python, Compass
Experience with SUN/Sparc, VxRail/RHEL platforms
Experience with Oracle/MySQL databases
Experience using team collaboration tools including ClearQuest, ClearCase
Experience with SW configuration management: ClearCase, PIMS
Typical Education / Experience
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
