The Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) Phantom Works organization in El Segundo, CA is seeking an ambitious systems engineer for the Electronic Products Space team which provides propulsion and avionics boxes to NASA and other customers. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with teams working on complex technical challenges in support of next generation human space flight launch vehicles, human inhabited vehicles, and space stations. This position requires an individual with excellent communication and relationship-building skills, is comfortable interacting with diverse cultures, and has a passion for space electronics.
Primary Responsibilities:
Integrates new designs and changes to existing designs across any and all affected disciplines.
Coordinates across multiple disciplines (Avionics, FSW, GNC, MO and down to the designer level) to assure designs and changes are integrated horizontally across the program(s).
Communicates hardware functions in concise, non-ambiguous manner to the user community.
Pays attention to details and consideration of how the end users perceive hardware functionality to prevent improper or damaging utilization.
This position requires the ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
Basic Qualifications (Required skills/experience):
Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited course of study in an engineering related discipline and at least nine (9) years of experience or 13 years of related work experience in lieu of degree. An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Five (5) or more years of experience in systems engineering.
Ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance - post start.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired skills/experience):
Experience coordinating across multiple disciplines (Avionics, FSW, GNC, MO, and down to the designer level) to assure designs and changes are integrated horizontally across the program(s).
Experience working with end users to define hardware functionality to prevent improper or damaging utilization
Experience in document release systems such as DOORs, EDRS, and eMatrix.
Typical Education and Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation
This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
