In 2017, the UK Ministry of Defence commissioned a new fleet of nine P-8A Poseidon Maritime Patrol (MPA). The P-8A MPA is based on a Boeing 737 modified with equipment to tackle a diverse range of missions, including protecting the Trident nuclear submarines and reconnaissance work far beyond UK territorial waters. The MPA Programme included a £130m investment creating a P-8A Strategic Facility at RAF Lossiemouth.
The P-8A Strategic Facility itself comprises Squadron accommodation, crew and maintainer training facilities, flight planning facilities, workshop areas and a three-bay aircraft hangar. The facility is part of a long-term partnering initiative between Boeing and the UK Government to advance growth and prosperity in the United Kingdom.
BDUK has been supporting the UK fleet as the exclusive Maintenance Repair Organisation (MRO) since its introduction as a key part of the Boeing Global Services P8 International team. BDUK will continue to support the UK customer at RAF Lossiemouth under its own contract with the UK MOD and also support our international customers as they enter their own fleets into service in the coming years.

Playing a key role in pre-input meetings, daily reporting and post input reviews, the Maintenance Planner is key to the successful management of all the Maintenance requirements on the P8 fleet.
