Boeing Research & Technology is seeking to hire a Model Based Safety Analysis Engineer.
The engineer will work in a team developing system safety assessment methods and solutions to support system functional integration and evaluate highly integrated aircraft system architectures against internal and external system safety requirements, including those described in the Aircraft Recommended Practices, such as ARP4754 and ARP4761. Thus, knowledge of the methods and analyses described in those documents (PASA, PSSA, ASA, SSA, PRA, CCA, CEA, ZSA, etc.) and their integration with Systems Development processes would be relevant for the position as well as having coding and model based systems engineering experience. The position will allow innovative approaches to be brought to Boeing products to solve the many challenges which are part of developing and implementing new methods to analysis modern system architectures.
The position can be located in our offices either in Madrid, Spain OR Munich, Germany.
Conduct research and/or support to product development in this field, with emphasis in safety, software, systems engineering and modeling and simulation of aircraft systems.
Contribute to the development of novel engineering methods, processes, training and tools
Develop and document novel ideas, file patent applications
Analyze and efficiently present engineering results.
Contribute to the preparation of original project proposals and capture funding
Find opportunities to integrate projects with other disciplines – adopt a multidisciplinary mindset
Promote maintain meaningful partnerships with internal and external partners and customers
Contribute to develop technical strategies
Participate and potentially lead Agile scrum teams
Occasional travel may be required

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Science or similar.
5+ years of experience in engineering (experience in research environment is a plus).
Strong background in Systems Engineering/Systems Safety Engineering.
5+ years’ experience in Systems/System Safety Engineering in the Aerospace/Automotive industry including but not limited to requirements management/definition, strong knowledge of safety/reliability analysis, architectural definitions, Model-Based system engineering, system integration.
Fluency in English and good communication, presentation and technical writing skills is a must. German, Spanish and other European languages are a plus.
Self-motivated with a demonstrated technical judgment and initiative.
Fluency in English language
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Knowledge of aircraft system safety analysis guidelines such as ARP4761, ARP4754 and certification process and regulations is a strong plus.
Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering, use of tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody or Enterprise Architect, and knowledge of UML, SysML and UAF is a strong plus.
Experience in Modeling and Simulation. Experience with 3DX, Simulink, DOORS, MODELICA and similar is beneficial.
Coding skills in general purpose programming languages such as Java, Python or similar.
- Demonstrated experience in Research and Problem Solving skills.
Previous experience working in multicultural environments will be very useful.
German, Spanish and other European languages are a plus.
Typical Education and Experience
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
