Job Description

Boeing is seeking a Satellite Ground SW Test Engineer to join a dynamic, diverse, and innovative team that is focused on designing and delivering a commercial Satellite Remote Sensing Ground Station software solution. Must want to work within an agile development environment with continuous integration and continuous test disciplines. Must value working as part of a larger team located across the United States, be able to identify and discuss ways of increasing productivity, and being a contributor to the development process and solution. The Satellite is being manufactured in El Segundo, Ca. The ground station software being developed will be installed and operated in multiple countries across the globe providing satellite remote sensing ground capabilities. End customers include global companies and governments in the Far East, Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia, and South America

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Integrate SW products across the various ground segment capabilities including command and control; mission planning, tasking, and scheduling; orbit management, and mission product processing and archive
  • Develop and maintain SW test tools, test plans and procedures, integration procedures and Day in the Life scenario procedures
  • Develop automated test scripts/tools to verify requirements/functions on a nightly basis
  • Conduct Factory and Site Acceptance testing and perform site installations to the primary customer and to end users across the globe.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Qualifications

Typical Education/Experience:

Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in Java or similar programming experience.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in integrating multiple SW capabilities into a single product using an iterative, multi-build and test methodology
  • Experience in developing Automated Test tools, and creating Test Plans and Procedures, test data, test configurations, and simulators
  • Experience working in an agile software development environment using Continuous Integration and Continuous Test
  • Linux experience
  • Familiarity with User Interface Development; use of User Experience methods including, Geospatial visualization and mapping
  • Experience with UI JavaScript frameworks and development toolkits (AngularJS, React, and Vue) is beneficial.
  • Eclipse IDE, Ant build scripts, Versioning Control Systems, JUnit Testing Framework, Continuous Integration Servers, Spring, Ruby on Rails, Hibernate, and working with Red Hat Operating System is desired
  • Web Service (both SOAP and Restful services) development experience
  • XML and related technologies experience is desired
  • Experience with Discrepancy Reporting/Tracking tools, Java Script, XML, Automated test applications and web base applications is desired.
  • Proficient with the MS Office suite of tools and should also demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills is beneficial
  • Understanding of development within a service-oriented architecture with experience deploying to application servers (WebLogic and Tomcat) and developing and maintaining WSDLs and XSDs is desired.
  • Experience with virtualization and cloud technologies desired
  • Experience with distributed computing middleware, such as CORBA, DDS, ActiveMQ, and proprietary packages

Knowledge of one or more languages (speaking or writing) other than English is desired. Potential for travel to locations throughout the world installing, integrating, testing, and training satellite ground station software to non-US Citizens exists. Travel locations may include but are not limited to Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, Bogota, Doha, Hanoi, Marrakech, Moscow, Munich, Pretoria, Riyadh, Santiago, Sao Paulo, Singapore, Seoul, Taipei and Tokyo.
