Job Description

The Information Services team helps employees across Boeing create, access, understand, harness, manage, and disseminate information. They optimize the latest developments in information management strategies to support Boeing innovation and competitiveness, delivering high quality, cost effective solutions on a global scale.


The Information Services team works with customers across Boeing to make sure that the right information gets to the right people in the most efficient way.
As experts in information management and licensing of technical and business information, they ensure the proper authentication, archival, management, curation, storage and distribution of data through the information lifecycle.
Team members will identify, catalog, and manage important knowledge artifacts to support business goals. They will assist in creating metadata that adheres to information science standards, cataloging of collections, and developing controlled vocabularies. Team members will consult with customers to develop repositories, websites, and systems as needed and will translate customer needs into technical requirements.

Responsibilities:
• Lead activities to identify, evaluate and recommend new information to meet business needs.
• Provide oversight for adherence to policies related to the retention and retrieval of information in support of business needs and requirements.
• Provide guidance to Collection Management, to support selection, purchase and retention of materials held in the enterprise collection.
• Provide guidance in the retention, retrieval, dissemination and disposition of information per company policy.
• Collaborate with business partners and analyze information to support long range business planning to meet strategic information needs.
• Provide guidance and contribute to the development of information management products and services.
• Represent Knowledge Management services in the collaboration with the other Information Management lifecycle job functions.
• Represent Knowledge Management services for any Enterprise system architecture and applications activities.
• Provide guidance on industry standard reporting and metrics gathering processes (ex, COUNTER).

Qualifications

Typical Education/Experience:

Bachelor's and typically 3 or more years' related work experience, a Master's degree and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Basic Qualifications:

• 5+ years experience in information and knowledge management principles, practices, industry applications and systems.

•Experience with Metadata

• Candidate must have a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (ex. Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint) and experience with Tableau.

• This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 
 

Preferred Qualifications:
• In addition to the basic qualifications above, candidate must have comprehensive experience in and knowledge of Library/Information Science services.

• Candidate must be familiar with MARC (Machine Readable Cataloging), have experience with integrated library systems (e.g., III’s Millennium).
• An MLIS/MSIM or equivalent degree, or being enrolled in an equivalent degree program
