Job Description

Boeing Research and Technology is seeking a Manufacturing and Automation Engineer for the Advanced Production Systems organization. This team leads the research and development of advanced production/assembly systems and processes to improve safety, quality, performance, and/or reduce costs. In addition, we provide production and sustainment support to enterprise-wide customers from multiple functions. This position supports various projects working with suppliers and research partners in Europe.

Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with different airplane programs to develop requirements and test concepts in a lab environment.
- Support paint shop with automated paint system expertise to establish proper process parameters and stable performance.
- On-site shop support during critical test phases as planned by the airplane program.
- Design, develop and implement preparation and/or paint end effectors and robot paths to effectively apply the different coats/chemicals to the requested materials.
- Travel to vendor sites to support and collaborate on testing.
- Develop requirements for production systems.
- Collaborate with outside vendors for the design and integration of production systems i.e. robotic cells.
- Document and publish results to drive standards across enterprise.

This position is located in Munich, Germany and does not offer relocation assistance. Applicants must reside in area or be willing to relocate at their own expense.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree is required (Engineering, Aerospace or related fields)

- General knowledge 3D computer graphics

- Programming skills (i.e. C/C++, Python, Java)

- Language: English, German

- Experience in the Systems Engineering
- Ability to develop prototype production equipment by designing, simulating, building, modifying, testing, and integrating components to minimize risk and demonstrate concept feasibility.
- General knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, etc.)
- General knowledge of Matlab/Simulink
