As the advanced central research and development organization of The Boeing Company, Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) provides innovative technologies that enable the development of future aerospace solutions while improving the cycle time, cost, quality and performance of existing Boeing products and services.
Boeing Research & Technology Japan is seeking a high potential R&D Robotics/Mechatronics Engineer for research and development projects based in Nagoya, Japan. A successful candidate will be an experienced and motivated Robotics/Mechatronics Engineer who will have the unique opportunity to design, improve, and transform production systems and processes to achieve world class manufacturing excellence for some of the world’s most sophisticated aircraft.
We are seeking candidates who have broad knowledge of robotic systems and competence in mechanical design, electrical design, controls, and programming. They will be comfortable doing hands-on work building prototypes in a lab, or collaborating on a design in a virtual model-based environment. They will take initiative, learn from others and by experience, seek feedback, and create innovative ideas. They will get great satisfaction in applying and engineering solutions that will work in the real world.

Position Responsibilities:
Conduct research and/or support process development in robotic manufacturing systems, with emphasis on software, simulation, and systems engineering.
Design and develop advanced robotic systems for aerospace production systems
Adapt and integrate various hardware and software capabilities into workable prototypes
Contribute to the development of novel robotic methods, processes, training and tools
Develop and document novel ideas, file patent applications
Contribute to the preparation of project proposals and capture funding.
Effectively communicate results to teammates, management, and customers.
Promote and maintain meaningful partnerships with internal and external partners and customers
Work with a global team of talented researchers across BR&T’s global R&D centers/presence in Japan, USA, Korea, and Australia
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Systems, Software, or Aerospace Engineering, or similar.
Demonstrated technical judgment and initiative. Self-motivation and Research Experience are a must.
At least 3 years’ experience
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience with robotics development/testing
Experience in hardware/software integration
Experience in computer aided design (CAD) tools like DS CATIA or 3DX is a strong plus.
Experience in manufacturing is a strong plus.
Experience in Automotive, Aerospace and/or other similar industries is a strong plus.
Typical Education:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, software engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master).
Relocation:
This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
