Space Launch Systems is looking for a Tool Engineering/ Tool Maintenance Manager. Manages employees performing maintenance and technical activities in the area of Tool Engineering and tooling Maintenance. Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals. Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical support to suppliers and leads process improvements initiatives regarding tooling maintenance and tool usage. . Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements. Knowledge of the operation of 3D printers in the development of molds required to apply Thermal Protection systems. Develops and implements work-arounds and maintains configuration of hardware and documentation.Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. Provides oversight and approval of products and processes. Manages, develops and motivates employees.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
This is a safety-sensitive position and is subject to NASA (DOT) random drug and alcohol testing.
This position requires the ability to obtain a clearance for access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree required from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry is required.
- Knowledge in CAD/CAM software applications for build and planned maintenance sequencing
- Knowledge in large complex tools and their functionality and processes
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Knowledge in clean room controls and their disciplines
- Knowledge in large complex tools and their functionality
- Knowledge with Manned Space Flight hardware
- Knowledge in Computer Added Manufacturing Processes
- Ability to work shipside with manufacturing support and manufacturing build team
This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
