The 787 Interiors Design Engineering organization and Interiors Responsibility Center South Carolina (IRCSC) team are seeking a Technical Designer to join us in North Charleston.

In this role you will contribute in the development and release of interior components. Your work will include interacting with teams in the following fields: project and production engineering, program/product teams, management, and technical staff to define and implement engineering solutions. You will be able to combine the expertise and resources of the interiors organization to engineer the best interiors products within the industry.

Working under minimal supervision, position responsibilities include the following:

  • Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
  • Develops, maintains and modifies structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods.
  • Provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Leads performance, integration and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.

The selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite in North Charleston, SC.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Associates’ of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, STEM or equivalent experience related to the role.
  • 3+ years of related work experience and/or combination of additional education and relevant experience with 3D modeling (Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks, SketchUp, Pro-E, 3DX, etc.).
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Associate's degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Demonstrates good problem-solving skills and critical thinking.
  • Working knowledge of standard business software (MS Office Suite).
  • Ability to use a variety of media to clearly convey information and ideas to a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated interest in continuous personal learning and development.
  • Ability to meet plan delivery deadlines when assigned.
  • Proficiency using 3-D CAD design software such as REDAR, CATIA, ENOVIA, IVT, DCAC, and LWG (Light Weight Graphics).
  • Capacity to apply industry standard analysis methods and techniques to continuously improve and optimize processes.
  • Knowledge of FAA and EASA requirements regarding specific commodities structure.
  • Experience in aircraft structure, materials and properties, design criteria, and/or release processes.

Typical Education/Experience

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study, Associates’ and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination.

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Salary:
$64,200 - $83,900
