This is a great opportunity to work in Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) South Carolina Design Center in North Charleston, as a Mid-Level Structural Design Engineer.

In this role you will contribute as a member of our 787 Aft Body Structures Life Cycle Product Team (LCPT) day to day activities which include the development and release of structural components. Your work will include interacting with teams in the following fields: project and production engineering, program/product teams, management, and technical staff to define and implement engineering solutions. You will be able to combine the expertise and resources of the interiors organization to engineer the best products within the industry.

Working under minimal supervision, position responsibilities include the following:

  • Develops, maintains and modifies structural and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Leads performance, integration and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite.


This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.


Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in one of the following engineering majors: Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Civil, and select STEM degrees.
  • 3+ years of experience using 3-D CAD design software such as REDAR,CATIA, ENOVIA, IVT, and LWG (Light Weight Graphics).
  • 2+ years of experience in Structural Composite design and configuration.
  • 5+ years of experience in the related job field.
  • Able to support regular and emergent domestic or international travel to support our customers. (Willing to travel up to 20% of the time).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Demonstrates good problem-solving skills and critical thinking.
  • Working knowledge of standard business software (MS Office Suite).
  • Ability to use a variety of media to clearly convey information and ideas to a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated interest in continuous personal learning and development.
  • Ability to meet plan delivery deadlines when assigned.
  • Capacity to apply industry standard analysis methods and techniques to continuously improve and optimize processes.
  • Knowledge of FAA and EASA requirements regarding specific commodities structure.
  • Experience in aircraft structure, materials and properties, design criteria, and/or release processes.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Typical Education/Experience:
Bachelor of Science degree and typically 5 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master of Science degree with typically 3 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Doctorate of Science degree with experience from an accredited course of study, in Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, Civil, and select Structures engineering.

ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Salary:
$89,760 - $117,900
