Propulsion South Carolina under Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a Propulsion Structures Stress Analysis Engineer - Associate, Mid-Level to join our team at our location in South Carolina.

We are specifically hiring for multiple positions in Propulsion Structures. In these roles you will performs structural analysis using well defined analysis tools to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance. Support test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Define and document certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied. Support in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.

The structures stress analysis engineer understands airplane structural analysis methods and tools for metallic and/or composite structures. The analyst ensures the airplane has sufficient strength to endure all conditions encountered during its operational life as well as investigate field service issues. The analyst also ensures the airplane structure meets all other design requirements.

As an Associate or Mid-Level Stress Analyst (Level 2/3), you will have a minimum of the following responsibilities:

  • Develop, integrate, and document structural requirements to establish the system design.
  • Coordinate with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment.
  • Guide product design and verify structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance.
  • Develop test plans and configurations, support test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Define and document certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
  • Support in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.
  • Works under general direction.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in North Charleston, SC.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in one of the following engineering majors: Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Civil, and select degrees with an emphasis in structures related course material.
  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience or related work experience and/or combination of additional education and relevant experience with stress analysis.
  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in Finite Element Analysis experience including the use of stress analysis tools such as, NASTRAN/PATRAN, HYPERMESH, ABAQUS, or any other stress analysis tools.
  • Ability to support occasional domestic travel to support our customers.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Level 3: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Demonstrate engineering knowledge as a level 2/3 engineer ideally working in a Structural and/or Aerospace industry.
  • 1+ years’ of experience with fatigue or durability analysis.
  • Experience with analysis of aircraft propulsion structures
  • Experience with Engineering classification such as Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil or Structural Engineering

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) in an engineering classification from an accredited course of study, in Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, Civil, and select Structures engineering.

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred accreditation standard although not required.

Associate (Level 2): Typically, 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Mid-Level (Level 3): Typically, 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master +3 years' related work experience).

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Summary pay range:

Level 2: $76,500 - $103,500

Level 3: $95,000 - $128,500
