Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking a Shipping & Distribution Facilitator to support our supply chain team located in Portland, OR!

Employees in this position work with, facilitate, coordinate, check the work of employees who handle aircraft parts, tools and related hardware in shipping, receiving and distribution areas. Facilitators perform specialized processes such as lease of major assemblies, warranty and overhaul functions, MRA (Material Return Area) buyback, inventory control and customer orders.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Obtain job assignment from lead and/or by assessing needs of the area.

  • Separate out priority jobs to be worked first, based on shipping/receiving requirements.

  • Facilitate flow of freight by ensuring processes are completed properly, organizing freight and separating per inspection requirements.

  • Troubleshoot problems and develop plans to resolve shipping/receiving issues (e.g., incorrect quantity, purchase order number, damage) and notify appropriate personnel, as required.

  • Provide assistance and instruction to shipping/receiving facilitators in problem identification, computing skills, packaging methods and other processes, as required.

  • Facilitate the movement of freight on pallets or carts into receiving/shipping areas.

  • Operate material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklift, overhead hoist) to move material, as required.

  • Open shipping containers using knife, crow bar and/or hammer and assist others, as required.

  • Remove packing slip and check against shipping label for part number, purchase order number and quantity.

  • Ensure that the quantity of parts received is the correct amount of parts shipped, as shown on the packing slip.

  • Ensure there is a bar-code label or other appropriate identifier for each carton in the order. Create an additional label, as required.

  • Use computers to perform work functions and to obtain any other necessary information to process paperwork.

  • Work system generated problems (e.g., Griefs) and route freight to appropriate area, as required.

  • Sort freight and route to appropriate areas (e.g., Tool Fabrication, Facilities Maintenance, Miscellaneous), as required.

  • Prepare freight for shipping: A) Fabricate crates and cardboard boxes, to the appropriate size for freight being shipped B) By wrapping, boxing, crating, preserving (e.g., bubble wrap, kraft paper), banding and put on pallets, as required C) Seal, tag, measure, stencil (e.g., arrows, "THIS SIDE UP"), tape and label material to ensure proper handling and routing, as required.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Capable of lifting, pushing and pulling up to 35 pounds.

  • 1+ years experience with warehouse operations.

  • 1+ years experience working in Tool Services.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • High School Diploma or GED

Relocation:

This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation.  Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

This position is for 2nd shift.

Union Representation:

This is an hourly position governed by the International Association of Machinist (IAM-751) Collective Bargaining agreement.

Pay rates are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range: $20.00/hour - $43.74/hour
