Job Description

Summary:

Identifies and documents customer business problems and objectives and works with customers to develop solutions. Works with customers to define, refine and document business processes associated with deployment of the proposed solutions.

Essential Duties:

  • Identifies and documents customer business problems and objectives and works with customers to develop solutions. Works with customers to define, refine and document business processes associated with deployment of the proposed solutions.
  • Interacts with customers to clarify and define product and system requirements associated with proposed solutions, including new development work and change requests.
  • Analyzes and documents requirements and develops detailed specifications as a basis for detailed design and development estimates, in close association with Functional Team Leaders.
  • Interacts with customers, project managers and the development team, where required, to ensure a common understanding of requirements, expectations, activities, priorities and timeframes, and changes to these as they may occur.
  • Interacts with developers to ensure customer requirements are fully understood and implemented as agreed.
  • Contributes to the creation, maintenance and review of product documentation including product and system requirements, user manuals, training material and release notes.
  • Supports the implementation of the product at customer sites including investigation of reported software issues, data analysis and processing, change management, testing and training. Assists with pre-sales/marketing and proposal work in areas of specific product knowledge.
  • Undertakes short term consultancy projects involving data analysis, processing and delivery of results, reports and recommendations, if applicable.
  • Mentors junior and newly appointed team members and assists with training in functionality and process both to clients and internally.

Education/Experience:

Technical degree in a related field of study and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Applies extensive job practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts. Has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Recognized as a job expert within the department/organization.
  • Provides technical solutions to complex problems that require ingenuity and creativity.
  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed for desired results from a relatively long-term perspective.
  • Guides the successful completion of aspects of major programs and may function in a project leadership role. Erroneous decisions or recommendations may result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives.
  • Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
