Boeing Vancouver is seeking a DevOps Engineer reporting the Manager of Software Development. The position will be based from our Richmond, British Columbia office; however, a hybrid work style is offered, allowing the candidate to work both virtually and in the office.
The dynamic and rapidly advancing technologies in the world of cloud-based deployment requires engineers that proactively stay up to date with new technologies and are always refining their craft. The DevOps Engineer will work closely with a team to ensure high availability and redundancy of all systems. The position will involve improving our build pipeline and ensuring successful delivery of new releases, developing infrastructure code, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) related tasks, and ultimately increasing value to the customer
Position Responsibilities:
Architect, design, and build scalable, reliable, and high-performance systems and environments
Design and implement both continuous integration and continuous delivery
Design and build monitoring solutions and services
Develop infrastructure and platform code
Monitor health of the application and environment, and act to return system to health when alerted
Effectively contribute to building the overall knowledge and expertise of the technical team
Identify and promote opportunities for innovation
Evangelize DevOps principles and best practices throughout the work, organization, and interactions with others
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Minimum 2+ years of experience with DevOps practices such as continuous integration and continuous deployment (using Microsoft Azure DevOps), configuration management, metrics and monitoring schemes, virtualization and cloud computing using Microsoft Azure
Minimum 2+ years Linux Server Network Administration experience
Minimum 2+ years software development experience
Minimum 2+ years implementing and deploying large cloud-based infrastructure solutions
Experience with Clustering, Network Load Balancing, Geographic redundancy, Fail Over Solutions, Data Backups, Recovery and Replication
Experience with Python, Java, Javascript, NodeJS, React and Bash
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOPS, Artifactory, GitLab, Maven, Jenkins
Self-motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail
Strong leadership skills with the ability to clearly communicate with other team members
Must legally able to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience with developing and supporting applications in docker
Experience with Docker containerization and clustering (e.g. Kubernetes/GKE/Helm/NGINX)
Knowledge of monitoring and code scanning tools (e.g. Grafana/Prometheus/Coverity)
Experience with large complex databases
Experience with Elasticsearch
Knowledge and/or experience of SAFe projects and processes desirable
Knowledge and/or experience of the Aviation Industry desirable
Experience in Agile Development and XP Engineering Practices (Pair Programming, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Small Releases) is desirable.
Typical Education and Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor)
and typically, 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of
technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience, 9
years' related work experience, etc.)
Relocation:

Additional Information:
This requisition is for a locally hired position in Canada. The employer is Boeing Canada. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Benefits and pay are determined by Canada and are not on Boeing US-based payroll. This is not an expatriate assignment.
