Boeing Vancouver is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our team, and reporting to the Senior Manager of Data Science & Analytics (Tech Ops). The position will be based from our Richmond, British Columbia office, embedded our local, 40-person, integrated data science development team; however, a hybrid work style is offered, allowing the candidate to work both virtually and in the office.
As a Data Scientist in Boeing’s Analytics & Integrated Solutions group, you will empower Boeing’s customer-facing software tools, products and services with cutting-edge analytics technologies. You will apply machine learning, statistics, and other analytics techniques to the unique challenges of aviation and aerospace. Whether in software or consulting, you will bring your data science specialty to cross-functional project teams to help launch and maintain leading-edge operational solutions around the world.
In particular, this Senior Data Scientist role will support the development of Insight Accelerator, Boeing’s predictive maintenance and prognostics platform. Embedded within a large product development collaboration, this role will require strong software development understanding and expertise in feature engineering, time-series analysis, anomaly analysis and forecasting problems, as well as a strong customer focus.

Position Responsibilities:
Communicates with customers, product owners and other stakeholders to understand requirements, steer development efforts and communicate deliverables/results
Contributes data science expertise in one or more cross-functional development teams supporting pathfinding and software product development efforts in maintenance, engineering, or flight operations
Provides technical leadership in machine learning and analytics, with a special emphasis on feature engineering and time-series analysis.
Develops production-level analytics tools for internal and customer-facing applications
Conducts evaluation, validation and continuous performance monitoring of supported applications, models and analyses
Helps setup of data and modeling pipelines
Champions culture of quality, learning, trust, and collaborative energy
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite in Richmond BC. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Must be legally able to work in Canada
5+ years’ experience in Data Science
3+ years’ experience in Python
1+ years’ experience with SQL
Must have experience in formal collaborative development environment and version control (e.g., Gitlab)
Must have prior experience in developing cloud-deployed applications (e.g., Google Cloud Platform)
Individual must not pose a risk for safeguarding of controlled goods
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Domain knowledge in the aviation & aerospace industry is an asset
Expertise in one of the following enabling technologies:
Cloud technologies (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud, AWS)
Large-scale data analysis technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Cassandra, Pig, Hive)
Project management knowledge (PMBOK, Agile, Kanban) is an asset
Experience in production-quality data and modeling pipeline development
Experience in production-quality analytics services deployment
Expertise in prognostics, anomaly detection, or predictive maintenance applications is an asset
Expertise in applied Natural Language Processing is an asset
Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master +5 years' related work experience, 9 years' related work experience, etc.).
Relocation:
Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
Additional Information:
This requisition is for a locally hired position in Canada. The employer is Boeing Canada. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Benefits and pay are determined by Canada and are not on Boeing US-based payroll. This is not an expatriate assignment.
