The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Lead Electrical System Capability Project Engineer located in Ridley Park, PA; St. Louis City, MO; Huntsville, AL; Houston, TX; EL Segundo, CA; Huntington Beach, CA and/or Everett, WA. This position reports to the Electrical Systems/Electrical Design Integration Capability team for BDS. The Electrical Systems Capability team interfaces with all BDS programs, as well as BCA and BGS on common projects. Much of the work performed by the team is focused on enabling next-generation model-based engineering capabilities for programs to execute their electrical engineering work statement with higher quality and lower cost. This team also supports program-direct help needed on a regular basis, facilitating or executing program SOW as the need arises. This position oversees a number of projects within the electrical systems capability team and manages the budget and SOW. This position also manages the working-level relationship with our external design tool suppliers.
The position requires the ability to travel, but typically no more than 10%.
Position Responsibilities Include:
Support of BDS development and production programs.
Leadership of the Mentor Capital Engineering Development and Library sub-teams.
Development, modification and coordination of changes to Electrical engineering tools.
Development and rollout of new model-based electrical engineering tool capabilities.
Creation and coordination of change impact statements.
Daily coordination with programs, Boeing IT, and engineering software vendors to prioritize needs and facilitate progress.
Coordination with BGS and BCA counterparts to support common tool and process development.
Development, modification and coordination of engineering processes.
Development of work statements (both for the capability team and in support of programs).
Reports regularly to senior leadership on progress, roadblocks, and help needed.
This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
3+ years of leadership or project management experience.
3+ years of experience in Electrical design; including but not limited to Electrical Systems design, Wire Design, Electrical Equipment Installation and Wire Installation Design.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5+ years of experience leading a team of engineers.
5+ years of experience dealing with various wiring design drawings including system interconnects, wire routing and equipment installation drawings.
3+ years of experience with Mentor Graphics Capital tool.
3+ years of experience using project management principles and industry best practices (PMBOK), including a thorough understanding of the project management life cycle, knowledge areas, and tools.
Experience using analytical, collaboration, communication and organizational skills.
Experience with time management and executing several projects at the same time.
Typical Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree and typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 7 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years' experience in an engineering classification.
