Boeing is currently looking for an Avionics Mechanic (Experienced) to join their team in San Antonio, TX. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense (BDS) business organization

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Able to use a variety of manual hand tools such as crimpers, strippers, wire cutters, heat shrink gun, complex, specialized aircraft test equipment, complex test equipment, etc.  The mechanic will be required to access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate on-line parts and discrepancy requests.
  • Able to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, written instructions, etc.
  • Able to assemble, modify, and install wire bundles, conductors and other electrical components, to include radio frequency cabling and antenna systems.
  • Able to effectively communicate, orally and written, with other employees, members of supervision, and others, as required in their duties.
  • Able to clearly document maintenance and repair actions, equipment status tags, logs, parts requests, etc.
  • Able to perform assigned duties while wearing required safety equipment.
  • Able to perform assigned duties on all shifts without encumbrances due to weather or physical location and conditions.
  • Order parts, pan stock, tools, materials, and equipment as required to perform assigned duties.
  • Provides input of technical and operational knowledge in the assessment and repair/maintenance recommendations in support of the program assigned.
  • Responsible for complying with all rules and regulations concerning health and safety, tool control, contracts, facilities and other pertinent coverages.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervision and management for the benefit of the company, program, or employee(s).
  • Perform complex work where specific or general operation methods are available.
  •  Judgment to make complex decisions. 
  • Responsible for the proper performance of assignments and the prudent handling of product, tools and equipment. 
  • Will be required consult with management and peers to assess best work process. 
  • Will assist and train less senior employees. 
  • May be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
  • Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects. 
  • Will perform all duties of lower Avionics classifications as required to successfully accomplish assignments.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience Depot Level/Heavy General maintenance.

  • 4+ years of experience working various aircraft exterior and interior systems such as : hydraulic, flight control, monuments, landing gears, fuel systems, and engines.

  • 4+ years of experience in working with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures.

  • Willing to work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Operational F/A-18E/F Super Hornet experience
  • Operate an aircraft tug/tow vehicle, forklift, mobile crane, and riding type electric powered elevating equipment to accomplish work assignment.

Typical Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED and typically 5+ years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Relocation:

This position does not offer relocation.  Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Pay Rate: $76,440

Additive Pay:  $1.00/hourly for Airframe Certification

                         $1.00/hourly for Powerplant Certification

                         $2.00/hourly for both Airframe & Powerplant Certifications
