Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Operations Manager to lead heavy maintenance and modification activities for E44, National Airborne Operations Center (NAOC).  The role is responsible for leading a large team of technicians and support personnel to accomplish heavy maintenance and modification activities.  Integration across functional organizations including Engineering, Quality, Program, etc. is required for success. The successful candidate will have demonstrated success in large-scale manufacturing, modification, and/or maintenance activities.  Further experience with military aircraft and programs is desired.

This is a high visibility position – requiring a safety, compliance, and quality centered Manager who will lead employees, first level, and senior managers performing activities within multiple manufacturing disciplines.   This senior position leads an innovative and safety minded team to develop and motivate all employees to achieve organizational performance and personal success.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Ensures safety of people, quality of product, delivery of product, cost of function, innovations and productivity improvements, people staffing, and team engagement planning
  • Implements and integrates Program Management Best Practices (PMBPs), Business Excellence implementation of Lean MRO and Boeing Production System (BPS)
  • Oversees standardization of processes with the program, infrastructure maintenance and oversight as well as management of fixed assets, capital plans, and program budgets
  • Serves as a point of contact with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), visiting customers, and other leadership visitors
  • Leads the execution of consistent skills management processes to define, acquire, deploy, and develop a skilled workforce
  • Facilitates retention, rotation, and redeployment processes, workforce development within the skill and improves communication and consistency within the program and across the site
  • Acquires resources for organization activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Provides guidance and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
  • Directly participates in establishing and administering multiple projects
  • This senior manager will harness and drive a positive culture driving Seek, Speak, and Listen, as well as the Boeing Values and Behaviors
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees, first line, and senior managers

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years leadership or management experience in a manufacturing, production, or maintenance environment
  • 3+ years of experience implementing lean manufacturing principles
  • 3+ years of experience in leading systematic problem solving
  • Experience leading teams to execute safety, quality, delivery & cost commitments and utilizing production systems

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • VIP or VVIP Aircraft (Commercial, Head of State or other) maintenance, modification, or program management experience
  • Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) license (current or previous)
  • Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul/Depot Maintenance Operations experience
  • Experience in ramp or flight line operations
  • Experience coaching/mentoring and talent development

  • This position requires travel up to 20% of the time

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $165,750 – $224,250
