Job Description

The Experimental Systems Group (ESG) has an opportunity for an experienced avionics electro-mechanical hardware design and integration engineer to support state-of-the-art tasks for its programs. The position is located in Seal Beach, California.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Works with customers (internal and external) to develop and document complex electronic and avionics system requirements.
  • Leads and coordinates work to analyze and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.
  • Develops design concepts to integrate complex systems and components into higher level systems and platforms.
  • Performs trade studies, modeling, simulation and analyses to predict system performance and design optimization.
  • Supports hardware integration and development including system trades, requirements development, and test data reviews.
  • Defines and conducts critical tests to validate performance of designs to requirements.
  • Monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
  • Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle from manufacturing through operational use.
  • Supports development of design review presentations including briefings to senior leadership.

Qualifications

This position requires an active SSBI/Special Program Access US Security Clearance.  (A US Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

 

If your final Security Clearance/Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirement is not granted, this offer will be withdrawn.  Once your clearances are granted, if they are not maintained, the result may be reassignment, reclassification, or termination of employment.

 

 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Must have knowledge and experience with electro-mechanical systems design and integration.
  • Must have experience in the development, production, and/or maintenance and repair of avionics systems or complex electronics products.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
 
The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:
  • Experience evaluating customer operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical data and assure compatibility of program interfaces.
  • Evaluating customer operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical data and assure compatibility of program interfaces.
  • Evaluating system performance and identifying process/product improvements. 
  • Good communications skills with customers, senior leadership and peers.
  • Experience with leading technical teams.

 

 

Typical Education/Experience:
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
