The Southern California Operations Center in Seal Beach, CA is seeking an Service Technical Analyst with broad knowledge of Boeing commercial aircraft hydro-mechanical systems, aircraft fluid systems, landing gear systems, payloads systems, environmental control systems, propulsion & fuel systems, electrical systems, avionics systems, flight controls systems, general systems design and/or repair, systems troubleshooting, and general engineering principles. The candidate will have working knowledge of various systems requirements on multiple heritage Boeing and Douglas airplanes.
Position Responsibilities:
The Technical Operations Support Analyst applies broad knowledge of Boeing design and/or engineering principles to develop engineering solutions that produce interim and final, safe, timely, high quality engineering solutions for technical in-service items that cannot be resolved by the customer.
Communicates directly with customers to understand customer problems and underlying issues.
Communicates customer's perspective to other organizations.
Communicates with other organizations to facilitate resolution and/or escalation of issues and to seek information.
Develops and provides technical briefings for management, customers, and product support personnel.
Conducts research on product issues including analyzing drawings, online data, past performance information, and other engineering resources, etc.
Included in the position is analyzing and conducting failure analysis, troubleshooting to determine root causes, and recommending solutions to complex in-service issues.
The analyst must have the ability to recognize reported problems and communicate deviations that could impact design intent and safety; recommend and manage resolution.
Develop and implement product process improvements; identify deviations that could impact design intent and safety and product process improvements.
The analyst will provide written dispositions for design non-conformances, develop routine customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment;
Identify and analyze fleet data, collect and evaluate data on customer findings for product process improvement opportunities that may include recurrent product support issues.
Develops interim and permanent structural repairs to restore damaged structure to original design strength capability; troubleshoots to resolve system issues; represents the engineering community in the build through post production environment ensures supplier and build partner compliance with Boeing standards.
Coordinates collaboration amongst multiple support groups working together on solutions including external suppliers.
In addition the analyst develops and implements technical training curriculum for internal or external customers; assists in the development and maintenance of group performance metrics and leads efforts that drive customer self-sufficiency and possesses an airplane and customer first attitude that results in an excellent customer experience every time.
Represents the perspective of the air carrier engineering and maintenance disciplines within the design and Fleet Support community to ensure the development of supportable products and timely resolution of in-service issues for the company product customer.
Considers and addresses the business and operating constraints of these disciplines against other design factors when evaluating design decisions.
Provides interpretation of the regulations pertaining to Air Carrier Operations and Maintenance with design engineers and management in order to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Provides on-site support with customer operations in support of Customer Support initiatives.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
The position requires flexibility to work a nonstandard schedule, which may include working “7days-on/7days-off”, holidays and weekends, and second or third shift hours to support the Boeing fleet operating 24/7/365.
5+ years related aircraft maintenance or engineering experience.
Ability to travel to other Boeing sites or customer operations as needed.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's of Science degree or higher from an accredited course of study in an engineering discipline, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET Accreditation is preferred.
Airframe and Powerplant license is advantageous.
Experience with Boeing aircraft data (hands on experience is a plus).
The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Typical Education and Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
