Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E) in Seattle, WA or Tukwila, WA is seeking motivated and technically skilled Mid-Level Instrumentation Engineer to support our development laboratories. In various roles, our instrumentation engineers help design and develop systems, plans, procedures and equipment that capture critical test data in our laboratories, to insure our products comply with customer, regulatory, and company requirements. Our designs test hardware, software and calibration systems that encompass all aspects of electrical and mechanical testing. The work also includes analysis, review and validation of test data, as well as research in test technologies to improve our efficiency and capability. Our engineers’ interface with other members of project and program teams, management, and technical staff to define and implement test engineering solutions. Position Responsibilities:
Assists in demonstrating the effectiveness of test methods
Develops simple test procedures, and instrumentation and configuration definition needed to perform the test and minimize risk
Designs component and sub-assembly level hardware or software and uses analytical tools to verify the design
Assists in coordinating the manufacture and assembly of test hardware
Identifies solutions to basic problems and supports the development of metrology processes, methods, and tools
Supports development of test debrief material. Participates in evaluation of test performance data
Reviews test data for accuracy, quality and/or fidelity prior to delivery to customer
Alerts senior engineers of off-nominal data. Prepares test reports for review
Works under general supervision
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
3+ years of experience in a professional engineering role
Experience in Electrical and/or Electronic Design (including: AC Power Distribution, DC Power Distribution, Current Flow Networking, Motor Controls, Ground and/or Bonding
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
3+ years of experience in design using a type of Computer Aid Drafting (CAD) programs tool: AUTOCAD, PROE, or CATIA
3+ years of experience in utilizing common software tools: Microsoft (MS) products (Word, Excel, VISIO, Power Point)
3+ years of experience in some type of Programming Language: PSPICE, MATLAB, LabView, Python, C++, or Assembly
3+ YEARS of experience in Test Equipment: Digital Volt Meters (DVM), Oscilloscopes, AC/DC Power supplies, Frequency Generators, Power Meters, Data acquisition (DAQ) system
Experience with mechanical systems
Experience in engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering
Experience in communication with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables
Experience in understanding the big picture and inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area
Experience in seeing and understand the inter-relationships between components of systems and plans, anticipate future events, and apply the principles of systems thinking to accelerate performance
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
