Join the dynamic Security & Fire Protection team work to keep Boeing safe. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience working in one of several exciting fields:
 
  • Fire Protection Engineer
    • The Fire Protection Engineering intern will ensure compliance with applicable fire and building codes and standards by assisting in the review of fire protection specifications and procedures. Assists in the reviewing and approving designs (e.g. construction, fire protection systems, production and manufacturing processes). Assists in the performance of general fire protection analyses (e.g. hydraulic calculations) and fire system tests/evaluations (e.g. acceptance, periodic) to minimize the impact of the potential losses, maintain compliance with requirements and protect people, property and the environment. Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures by participating in design reviews and approvals (e.g. construction, fire protection systems, production and manufacturing processes), assisting in performance of general fire protection analyses and assisting in fire inspections and systems tests, to minimize the impact of potential fire losses and maintain the compliance with requirements, and protect people, property and the environment. Assists in the revision of company standards, processes and procedures by teaming with internal customers to comply with applicable codes and standards and to enhance the fire safety for the company. Supports the determination of the applicability of insurance standards and recommendations to the business by assisting with insurance surveys and fire system tests to develop and revise company protection specifications and procedures, makes recommendations to company management, and advises insurance representatives of company position.

  • Security and Fire Protection Multi Op Specialist – opportunities within Global Security Operations Center (GSOC); Uniform Security Team; General Site Security, Aviation Security, and Fire Protection, Emergency Preparedness; and Security Technology Operations
    • Manages or works in multiple disciplines which may include industrial security operations, fire protection operations, uniformed security operations, investigations, access administration, emergency preparedness, automated-information security systems, education and training and special projects. Oversees design, development and implementation of organization policies, programs, processes and procedures for the purpose of safeguarding people, property, information and the environment while ensuring compliance with applicable government and company security and fire regulations. Guides the development of organization policies and strategies. Consults, advises, instructs and applies technical expertise to management and cross-functional teams in strategic, tactical, operational and business planning activities. Develops and maintains operating policies and procedures and manages ongoing organizational processes pertinent to the security and fire protection charter. Interfaces with the appropriate government agencies, company management and employees, customers, vendors and suppliers on security and fire protection related issues. Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) - This intern would be a hybrid global security watch officer / intelligence analyst. They might also assist with GSOC communications projects such as data analysis.

      • Interns would help support new technology evaluations and deployments, as well as enhancements to existing security systems (AMS - Access Management Systems, VSS - Video Security Systems).

  • K9 Handler
    • Interns would assist with the protection of company assets by conducting screening, emergency response and K-9 training and care. Participates in the sweeping of aircraft, cargo, vehicles, buildings, etc. for explosives. Supports processes that require integration across functions. Responds to emergency assistance requests by operating specialized tools, equipment and apparatus. Documents incidents and participates in after-action reviews. Participates in maintenance training with internal and external Explosives Detection Dog teams. Supports K-9 demonstrations for safety and education events. Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications and licenses.

  • Industrial Security
    • This Intern position will be part of the Government Security Industrial Security team and will report directly to an Industrial Security Manager but will rotate through at least two (2) Boeing sites within a region. This is an opportunity for a motivated, self-starter to obtain basic knowledge and functions of an Industrial Security Specialist and learn about the National Industrial Security Program. The individual will participate in the various security disciplines to include Classified Visits, Personnel Clearances, Security Awareness & Education, Subcontractor Management, Physical Security, Communications Security (COMSEC), Government Security Investigations and Technology Control Plans. There will also be involvement with and maintaining online status and tracking tools for key security transactions such as access rosters, special projects, managing desktop policies, and assisting security professionals as needed with Special Events or other Government Security function. Candidates must be capable of obtaining a Secret Clearance.

  • Cybersecurity
    •  Enterprise Government Cybersecurity brings value to Boeing by building cybersecurity into all Boeing platforms and services and providing risk management framework solutions within the Cyber domain. Develop a basic understanding of the Authorization and Assessment (A&A) process under the Risk Managed Framework (RMF). Gain a working introduction into security analyses of operational and development environments, threats, vulnerabilities and internal interfaces, to define and assess compliance with accepted industry and government standards. Gain exposure to conducting risk assessments and investigations, executing appropriate risk mitigations, and participating in incident response activities.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
 
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program or higher from an accredited course of study with an anticipated graduation date on or after August 2019.
  • Ability to work full-time for 10-12 weeks during the summer.
  • These positions must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Passion for the aerospace industry.
  • Academic excellence, technical project experience, internships, leadership experience, and community involvement.
 
Some positions may require the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
