Job Description
Boeing is recruiting for a junior level Aerodynamics/CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) Engineer to execute aero/CFD statement of work in design, development and integration across an exciting suite of products, including Fixed Wing Aircraft and Missile & Weapons Systems. This position will be located in the St Louis/St Charles region.
 
Position Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a member of a technical team of engineers in the areas of vehicle sizing, aerodynamic performance and/or weapon separation in the design and analysis of flight vehicles and their components primarily using CFD to execute Statement of Work (SOW).
  • Support the development of new and improving existing CFD technologies, tools and processes to enhance technology readiness, improve vehicle performance and reduce cycle time and cost.
  • Assist with development of test requirements (e.g., wind tunnel, ground, flight, accident and incident and product support testing of aerodynamics or aeroheating/thermal characteristics) of flight vehicles.
The Flight Engineering Capability is an exciting organizational element in Boeing Defense, Space & Security responsible for Flight Engineering work statements and supporting the business in all aspects of the product life cycle. Product areas within the Flight Capability in the St. Louis/St. Charles region include Fighter Aircraft, Unmanned Aircraft, and Missiles & Weapons Systems, and includes Flight disciplines in Aerodynamics, Propulsion and GN&C. The St. Louis region is growing and Flight Engineering is looking for motivated, talented engineers to join the Boeing team on the exciting programs located in this region. Selected candidates will work a wide range of programs that will require Aerodynamic/CFD design, analysis and testing to meet our customers' requirements.

Qualifications
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
 
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Master’s Degree required with academic study and/or thesis focused in CFD
  • Experience or coursework in aerodynamic design and analysis principles, processes, methods, and tools for flight vehicles, including industry and company standard practices; and ability to perform aerodynamic analysis tasks
  • Experience in planning, conducting, coordinating, and/or developing test requirements
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Current active Secret U.S. Security Clearance
  • Internship or work experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics
  • Experience using both structured and unstructured gridding methodologies
  • Experience using OVERFLOW and Overset gridding a plus
  • Previous experience in multi-disciplinary wind tunnel, ground, flight, accident and incident, and/or product support testing of aerodynamic characteristics of flight vehicles, their components, or supporting technologies
  • Exposure to vehicle sizing and performance principles, tools, and processes
  • Experience with aerodynamic, propulsion, or other factors impacting vehicle performance and how they can be used to optimize performance
  • Experience in the key elements of how the vehicle size is driven by performance and requirements
Typical Education and Experience:
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
