Job Description

Boeing, Defense, Space & Security  SEIT & Systems Capability team has an immediate need for a Systems Engineering Specialty Engineer to join the T-X / Advanced Pilot Training System Specialty Engineering team in St. Louis, Missouri.


The chosen candidate will join a diverse, collaborative, and integrated engineering team responsible for execution of the Engineering, Manufacturing and Development phase of the Advanced Pilot Training System Program.



Position Responsibilities:

  • Execution of the Engineering, Manufacturing and Development phase of the Advanced Pilot Training System Program.
  • Familiar with systems engineering practices and aircraft systems as well as have a passion for learning and technical excellence. 
  • System Safety analyses and hazard tracking in accordance with MIL-STD-882E 
  • Reliability & Maintainability (R&M) analyses in accordance with commercial and military standards 
  • Safety and R&M requirement derivation, systems integration, and verification activities 
  • Coordination and collaboration with program integrated product teams and USAF customer 
  • Managing Safety and R&M technical statement of work applicable to the aircraft, support equipment and training system

This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering classification  
  • Ability to travel, typically 1 – 4 trips of up to a week duration per year to support customers and suppliers. 
  • Systems engineering education and/or work experience


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience):


  • Systems Safety
  • Reliability & Maintainability
  • Experience working reliability, maintainability, or safety for an aircraft or defense program/platform 
  • Technical knowledge and experience with aircraft systems (e.g. electrical, avionics, flight controls) 
  • Technical knowledge and experience with software and built-in-testing 
  • Experience with systems engineering processes and model based systems engineering 
  • Preferred Degree in aerospace/aeronautical, electrical, systems or mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited program. 
  • Ability to demonstrate a career interest in technical excellence, developing/deploying effective and efficient analysis tools and processes, excellent communications skills, and the ability to develop and present material on a variety of topics, both technical and administrative.


Typical Education/Experience:
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
