Job Description

Boeing’s Boeing Defense/Space/Security, Phantom Works Division is now seeking a candidate with the following background and experience:

 

- Candidates should have a strong desire to answer "why" or "how" questions related to military operations and system effectiveness through data analysis

- Experience developing mathematical models representing physical systems highly desirable

- Minimum two years experience utilizing AFSIM / AFNES for constructive analysis and simulation desirable

- Minimum one year experience conducting constructive analysis of military weapon systems to determine system effectiveness

- Experience with modern computer scripting languages (Perl, Python) desirable

- Experience developing MATLAB tools to support visualization and analysis of data desired

- Experience with military systems cost data desirable

Qualifications

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Generally ensures that required equipment and/or materials are in appropriate locations so that own and others' work can be done effectively. Allocates own time to complete work; tries to coordinate own and others' schedules to avoid conflicts. Uses time effectively and rarely allows irrelevant issues or distractions from interfering with work completion.

 

Systems Thinking

Generally evaluates job tasks and processes on how well they help meet work group objective(s); attempts to identify non-value-adding components and barriers. Seeks input from others within work group and occasionally other internal employees to evaluate options for change and encourage buy-in. Supports changes to job/role structures and processes by communicating effectively and focusing on new skill development. Participates in measurement systems to monitor the implementation.

 

Technical Competencies:

Analysis/Design Optimization

General ability to evaluate complex vehicles and systems from a multitude of perspectives. Includes the ability to apply figures of merit and integrated optimization tools. Ability to perform multi-disciplinary trade studies to evaluate configuration alternatives for functional and spatial integration.

 

Analytical Skills

Skill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources at the work group level.

 

Industry Knowledge

General knowledge of internal and basic knowledge of external business environment. General knowledge of your Boeing business segment (to include competitors) and a general knowledge of other Boeing product lines.

 

Ops Effective Analysis

General knowledge of operational effectiveness analysis methodologies (e.g. mission and system effectiveness analysis) and tools (e.g., mission simulations; measure of effectiveness; human in the loop simulators, test facilities, and operational evaluations).

 

Statistical Concepts

General knowledge of statistical analysis concepts such as normal distribution, standard deviations, mean, probability, and confidence levels.

 

Systems Trade Studies

General knowledge of trade study process (e.g., benchmarking, best value).

 

Must have a Current Secret U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

Must be a United States Person as defined by 22 C.F.R.  § 120.15?  “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
