Job Description

The Technical Computer Officer will be based in Stafford and will be require to work with the wider IT team to resolve all issues, however, the work is located at various sites throughout the Staffordshire area

You will use your technical expertise to help deliver appropriate service improvements in performance, stability and productivity but above all ensure KPIs, OLAs and SLAs are delivered in line with requirements

It is essential that you are comfortable and confident representing Boeing Information Service to clients and partner organizations, as well as influencing internal colleagues at all levels.  Your responsibilities will require some travel within the UK and occasionally may require overseas travel

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a customer centric support ensuring a professional service at all times.
  • Providing support for incidents which cannot be satisfactorily resolved by the Service Desk (second line support).
  • Management and maintenance of the Mobile Technology environments, systems and hardware.
  • Deliver routine maintenance, upgrade and/or replacement to minimize the impact on the users
  • Updating software and hardware as required using defined release management protocols.
  • Monitoring system capacity and usage and escalating emerging issues.
  • Establish close working relationships with all departments and develop proactive business partnerships ensuring you take accountability for your area of support.
  • New and replacement equipment
  • Preparing new equipment and software ready for installation.
  • Ensuring user requirement is current and equipment configuration still meets user needs.
  • Checking that the installation complies with internal standards.
  • Installing all the authorised services required by the user.
  • Ensure stringent, documented testing processes prior to on-site installation.
  • Logging all new and changed equipment in the configuration library.
  • Updating Request for Change (RFC) documents where appropriate.
  • Project Work
  • When agreed by management, providing a point of contact and technical assistance for issues connected with projects.
  • Support the installation of equipment and applications as required.
  • Developing technical documentation required to facilitate support and operation.
  • Understand the project enough to take over support requirements in line with project direction

Special Conditions

The post holder must be the holder of a full current driving license, and have access to their own transport that they are willing to use where no pool transport is available

There may be a requirement to provide “out of hours” cover on a rota basis

Qualifications
  • Understanding of Mobile Operating Systems and Windows Server platforms.
  • Awareness of Mobile Device Management (MDM), Database, Virtual Private Network (VPN), Networking, Security and Server technologies.
  • Flexibility to use a variety of supporting technologies, the ability to work under pressure and be capable of balancing competing demands and priorities.
  • Proven track record in providing effective technical support.
  • Proactive with positive attitude and approach
  • Experience of the Microsoft productivity stack
  • Experience of creating fit-for-purpose documentation
  • Operate pro-actively; thinking for themselves but never hesitating to ask when necessary

An IT related HNC NVQ qualification or experience that shows skills to that level
