The Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), Space and Launch Division is seeking an Experienced Mechanical Systems Engineer (Level 3) to support the team in Puget Sound, WA. The position provides an opportunity to work with an experienced, interdisciplinary team to develop a unique system to meet challenging requirements on a dynamic development program. Along with this program the Puget Sound site supports a large portfolio of products including commercial airplanes, and military commercial derivatives.
The Space and Launch Team creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our team focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

The Experienced Mechanical Systems Engineer will be a part of a high-performing team that are immersed in high intensity development projects. As an Experienced Mechanical Systems Engineer you will collaborate with teammates, design, implement and test, which support our Space and Launch operations.
Supports the development and documentation of structural and mechanical design to establish the overall system design.
Supports the development, maintenance or modification of system, component and installation designs/proposals to provide design documentation to downstream groups.
Performs and documents analyses to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
Contributes to supplier development, test and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program goals.
Supports system components' designs/proposals standards to provide installation and detail documentation.
This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (US Citizenship required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
5 years or more of experience in mechanical systems design and analysis on aerospace platforms or similar highly regulated products.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience in development, build and test of spacecraft.
Experience with mechanical and system integration.
Experience with mechanisms design.
Experience assisting with Finite Element Analysis efforts with an emphasis in structural dynamics or thermal analysis.
Experience with CATIA, Teamcenter, or other industry standard CAD and FEA tools.
Experience working across multiple disciplines in a rapid development environment.
Prior history working in a classified environment.
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
