The role will partner with project teams to fulfill the following responsibilities:

  • Create effective, usable, and delightful digital user experiences 
  • Engage with business stakeholders to understand direction and needs 
  • Perform user-centered design activities (interviews, field studies, surveys, analytics) that actively involve users throughout all phases of a project to ensure product usability 
  • Oversee the definition of complex user requirements and usability goals
  • Create user interaction design alternatives and convey designs by building prototypes
  • Lead or conduct usability tests, heuristic evaluations, or other reviews to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the designs

  • You have significant experience designing native mobile or responsive web app solutions
  • You have strong user-centered interaction or visual design skills
  • You have a keen eye for detail and inquisitive analytical skills
  • You have designed simple solutions to complex problems
  • You have utilized standards to create consistent and modern experiences
  • You can clearly explain how your design is meeting a user’s needs to all team members (business leaders, project stakeholders, technical development, QA test)
  • You are comfortable with quick iterative design techniques including whiteboard ideation, wireframing, and screen flow diagramming
  • You love learning and can ramp up quickly in a domain that is unfamiliar

Qualifications

 

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

 
Required Skills and Experience  
  • More than 5 years experience with design thinking/user-centered design
  • Significant experience designing complex, data dense native solutions for Apple's iPad or responsive web apps 
  • Strong communication skills
  • Design experience following established visual and interaction standards 
  • Diagramming experience with page flows, user journey maps, and user task flow analyses
  • Experience planning and conducting quick user research studies to help resolve design conflicts or gain deeper insights in to user needs
  • Experience with user-centered design practices to create high value customer solutions that demonstrate benefit to the user and business

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Apple Computer's HIG (Human Interface Guidelines) or Google Material Design
  • Experience with 3-5 day design sprints
  • Experience with design tools such as Sketch, Adobe, and InVision
  • Familiarity with Microsoft's UWP design guidelines 
  • User interface design for technical publications
  • Experience with Agile processes
  • Aviation industry experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
