The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Mid-Level Maritime Undersea Test & Evaluation Engineer to join our Autonomous Systems Maritime Undersea Integrated Test & Post-Delivery Support Team located in either Ventura, CA or Huntington Beach, CA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

Join our Boeing team to help be a part of this emerging technology!  Maritime Undersea (MU) is a growing business focused on delivering sophisticated solutions from seabed to space.  As an MU Test & Evaluation Engineer, you will be part of a multi-functional engineering team delivering cutting edge technologies to our customers and delivering the best solutions for today’s complex undersea engineering challenges.

Our products range from unique Integrated Mission solutions to highly capable Autonomous Extra-Large Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (XLUUVs).

As a Test & Evaluation Engineer on our Integrated Test & Post Delivery Support Team, you will be responsible for evaluating test requirements, developing and carrying out test procedures, and working with design engineers on post-test system improvements for our Autonomous Extra-Large Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (XLUUVs). This position provides for significant hands-on involvement in at-sea testing, including in-water time as needed to tend to and operate vehicles. You will be an active and key contributor in optimizing our systems and troubleshooting. This position will be located principally at Naval Base Ventura County, with some remote work as needed to collaborate with design engineers in Huntington Beach, CA and Herndon, VA. 

Travel: up to 25%

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Organize and develop operational test plans that satisfy customer contractual requirements

  • Engage with customers and design engineers to best understand how to efficiently perform test requirements

  • Implement test plans in support of delivery to our customers and evaluate/present results to customers, including participation in at-sea testing sorties

  • Collaborate with internal engineering capability/specialty SMEs to assist in problem resolution.

  • Assist in preparation of operational technical documents for customers

  • Works under general supervision

This position allows telecommuting.  The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. Ventura, CA.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or related field

  • SCUBA qualified/Open Water Diver qualified

  • 3+ years working in design or test of mechanical or electrical systems

  • Willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time domestically

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with 3D Modeling Tools (CAD)
  • Experience working in a field operations environment
  • Experience in additive manufacturing technology (part or tooling R&D/design/fabrication/test)

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Summary pay range for Mid-level: $102,000 – $138,000
