The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Release Train Engineer to join the Mission Systems & Autonomy (MS&A) software capability team located in El Segundo, California, Huntington Beach, California, Annapolis Junction, Maryland, or Fairfax, Virginia. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) business organization.

The position will involve creating software for world class, next generation disruptive systems and technologies. The selected candidate is a leader on the Agile Release Train (ART), a team of teams (80-100 Software Engineers) that plan, commit, develop, and deploy software together to deliver value to the Disruptive Computing & Networks (DC&N) organization. The software product team is focused on the concept, requirements, architecture, design, and development of a future system. Our software products help solve Boeing's most challenging problems across Commercial Airplanes, Defense Space & Security, and Global Services businesses. Projects can range from new cyber security solutions for the revolutionary 787 Dreamliner to innovative aircraft, creating virtual avionics development test environments across several commercial, defense, satellite, and space platforms, satellite payload technologies, and autonomy.

This position will require 10% travel.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management of multiple Scrum Teams

  • Facilitate scaled agile processes for the software team, including planning, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, and product demos

  • Foster communication and collaboration between Agile teams within the Agile Release Train (ART) and stakeholders

  • Coach team members and stakeholders in SAFe and Agile practices

  • Share the train's outcome goals and ensure transparency about delivery, risks, and accomplishments

  • Remove or escalate impediments to flow and promote a culture of continuous improvement

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of PI Roadmaps and Program Vision

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.  Ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI US Security clearance Post-Start and ability to complete a CI (Counter Intelligence) polygraph after employment start.

To be considered for this position you will be required to complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process.  Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 5+ years' experience in the Software Development lifecycle (including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test)

  • 5+ years working with Agile methodologies

  • 3+ years of RTE experience operating in an Agile Development environment 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Active Top Security/SCI with Poly Clearance

  • 7+ years of experience designing and developing software for a real time or non-real-time system

  • Experience using GitLab

  • Strong technical aptitude and experience leading teams in delivering quality software

  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C, C++, and MATLAB

  • Agile or SAFe Certification such as SAFe Program Consultant Certification

  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate large planning and solutioning sessions

  • Experience working in an Agile organization using Scrum, XP, Kanban, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), or other scaling models

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).  In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for Experienced:  $130,900.00 - $177,100.00.
