Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a WGS Program Integration Office (PIO) Lead - Deputy Program Manager to join our Boeing Space Mission Systems team in El Segundo, California.

This position will report to the Senior Program Manager for Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) and will support all areas of program execution and have delegation of authority to act on their behalf. This position will also have responsibility for leading a program team in the development, production, and integration of complex space systems.

This position will manage program staffing, integrated planning & scheduling, performance management (operating rhythm, earned value, metrics, etc.), change control board authorization, Risk, Issue, Opportunity (RIO) management, Program Management Best Practices, Continuous improvement, Lean Initiatives, and Business Plan Reviews. Will also ensure assigned individuals are executing identified and assigned tasks and providing appropriate tracking and reporting per plan. Will also be responsible for leading and managing multi-disciplinary IPT teams (engineering, manufacturing, operations, quality, and production control) through satellite production, test, and launch.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with key customer, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports, leveraging One Boeing to achieve results.
  • Assesses overall Integrated Product Team (IPT) resource demand and supports IPT leads in coordinating resource needs across the enterprise and supply base.
  • Responsible for program cost, schedule, technical, and risk management for a complex commercial satellite program through delivery and launch supporting a global customer.
  • Ensures successful satellite production integration and factory resource assessments.
  • Identifies and manages risks, issues, and opportunities, and ensures they are incorporated into the program plan.
  • Manages employees and first-level managers performing business management activities in the area of Program Management.
  • Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
  • Establishes Program Management Best Practices (PMBP) program goals and establishes a PMBP improvement plan.
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees and first-level managers.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position is for 1st shift.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (An Interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post Start is required.) Current Top Secret/SCI preferred.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Technical Bachelor's, Master's or a PhD degree. (A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study).
  • More than 10 years of experience in a leadership role, leading teams or projects to successful completion.
  • Experience in the implementation and use of Program Management Best Practices.
  • Experience developing satellite systems and leading very dynamic and evolving technical work.
  • Experience in Satellite or Space Programs and related factory operations.
  • Experience developing and managing strong relationships with partners (internal & external) and customers and their representatives.
  • Clear and concise written and oral communication of complex subjects provided to executive leadership and all levels of customer engagement.

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Travel:

Position may require travel up to 10% of the time.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $168,300 - $227,700
