What is your role at Boeing?

I work with the 777X Wing Major Assembly Sustaining team as a Design Engineering Intern. My team maintains and improves the wing through sustaining engineering. We ensure safety, efficiency, and reliability by implementing design changes and solving challenges related to structural integrity.

How did you hear about our internships and why did you decide to apply?

Boeing has a close relationship with my university in Puerto Rico. I decided to apply because I’m passionate about the aerospace industry, and what better place to work than one of the world's leading aerospace companies?

What excites you the most about Boeing’s mission and in what ways is your team making a real-world impact?

The company’s values and their constant innovation to make the world better. I appreciate Boeing’s efforts to inspire future generations in the aerospace industry. It’s admirable how each individual here shows resilience and commitment to progress. My team, like all others, prioritizes safety and quality in every aspect, ensuring efficient work in every way.

How does your work contribute to product safety and quality?

I collaborate with my team to review and modify designs and drawings, ensuring they are accurate and compliant with regulatory requirements. This proactive approach helps ensure that our aircraft components are not only safe but also of the highest quality, meeting or exceeding industry standards.

What has been your favorite experience at your internship so far?

All the exposure I've gained to both manufacturing processes and the company in general. In just a few weeks, I've visited major manufacturing plants that impact the production of programs like the 737 and 777/777X. Additionally, working hands-on with my team to get a real feel for the job has been awesome.

In what ways do you feel supported by your team?

My team has a great dynamic and always makes me feel valued, providing feedback and recommendations about my work and offering help whenever I need it.

My manager and leads frequently check in with me, and encourage me to explore and learn about other groups and disciplines, go on tours, and talk with other employees, even if they're not on my team.

What advice do you have for students who are interested in interning with us?

Be persistent with your goals no matter what happens along the way. Attend every event on campus, build relationships, and approach Boeing recruiters, even if it's just to have a conversation about the company and demonstrate your interest in joining.
