What is your role at Boeing?

I am part of the Safety, Certifications, and Airworthiness team for Boeing Defense, Space & Security. My role involves analyzing and resolving system issues, which helps to minimize rework requirements and fosters a more streamlined process for compliance.

How did you hear about our internships and why did you decide to apply?

I heard about this internship through career fairs at the University of Southern California. I wanted to challenge myself in the aerospace industry and gain valuable experience in a corporate environment, breaking barriers and paving the way for others like me.

What excites you the most about Boeing’s mission and in what ways is your team making a real-world impact? 

Boeing’s commitment to safety and innovation excites me the most. The promise to prioritize passenger safety and quality, even while pursuing new ideas, is inspiring.

Our team contributes to this mission by ensuring compliance with safety and certification standards, ultimately enhancing the overall reliability and safety of Boeing’s products, while also coming up with efficient ways to mitigate risks.

What has been your favorite experience at your internship so far?

Feeling like a valued voice within the company. Engaging with colleagues from diverse backgrounds has been incredibly enriching, and it’s been exciting to hear different perspectives and know that my own contributions are valued.

In what ways do you feel supported by your team?

I have received valuable advice on both my career and personal development. Being early in my career, it’s easy to feel uncertain, but having experienced team members to guide me has been immensely supportive. Their insights help me make the most out of my internship and shape my future career path.

How has your internship shaped your career goals?

I’ve learned that I have the tools to contribute positively and support my team, project, and company. It has reinforced my desire to pursue a career where I can make meaningful contributions.

What are your tips for accomplishing your best work?

Collaboration has been key to accomplishing my best work. Engineering is fundamentally about solving problems and creating solutions as a team. Communicating with seasoned and like-minded individuals has sparked my creativity and helped me overcome project challenges.

What advice do you have for students who are interested in interning with us?

Be courageous and put your best foot forward in every action.

As a first-generation college student and a Black woman, I know the importance of representation and perseverance. You are worthy of every position you work hard for. If Boeing aligns with your core values, give the internship application your all and make the most of the opportunity.
