The Boeing Company is looking for an Inspector Ship & Receiving B to join our team in Des Moines, WA.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Inspectors in this position inspect standards/fasteners, parts, assemblies and other materials received or to be shipped for conformance with applicable drawings and specifications. 
  • Receive/obtain jobs from vendors or stores and inspect in order of priority.
  • Check condition of container and hardware for handling damage, corrosion, contamination, deterioration or any other type of damage. Verify that suppliers are approved.
  • Inspect data package for completeness and accuracy.
  • Verify part/item number, nomenclature, test documentation, other pertinent data, and that the quantity is correct using the appropriate drawing, specifications and any other necessary paperwork/on linesystems.
  • Review and process any non-conforming hardware.  Inspect, process and handle sensitive materials (e.g., time/temperature sensitive, ordnance, explosives, radioactive parts, oxygen, electrostatic discharge sensitive devices) per approved quality procedures.
  • Process parts for lab or functional testing if required by plan and engineering requirements. Inspect dimensions and workmanship (e.g., standards, parts, assemblies) per the plan/contract, drawing and specification. Identify and document discrepancies and reject parts/assemblies.
  • Perform heat-treat inspections (e.g., hardness, conductivity), as required. Document the required information.
  • Perform internal audits and self-assessments.
  • Perform inspections at vendor sites.
  • Maintain personal and tool certifications.
  • Handle, use and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner.
  • Perform Quality functions such as Customer and DCMA Coordination, Configuration Change Verification, Conformity Inspections, Airworthiness Inspections (including Pre-flight and Post-flights), Corrective Action and Investigations.
  • Initiate and document any nonconforming materials, hardware, software, tools, parts, assemblies, or portions thereof, according to specifications, processes, and procedures.
  • Perform Aviation Maintenance Technician Inspector tasks to obtain and maintain knowledge, skills and required certifications.

  • Perform audit/surveillance of all manufacturing and quality assurance processes, according to specifications, processes, and procedures.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Ability to Obtain U.S. Secret – Final Post-Start

Current Boeing employees working in Puget Sound must submit an Employee Request Transfer (ERT) to be considered in the eligible candidate pool. Resumes of current Puget Sound Boeing employees submitted via Careers at Boeing will not be considered.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  •  3+ years of experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint?
  • How many years of experience do you have following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications, along with successful completion of training and knowledge assessments involving mathematical calculations, all conducted in English.
  • 3+ years of experience do you have with the following types of hand tools (calipers, digital optical micrometers, depth gages, thread gages, go no go gages, etc.)
  • 1+ years of experience working in a manufacturing, warehouse, shipping or customer service environment?

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Do you have the ability to lift and carry cartons weighing up to 35 lbs. and manage heavier cartons using safety tools?

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. (Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.)

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $26.32 - $56.36
