The Boeing Company is hiring for an EmbeddedSoftware Engineer (Level 2) to support the Armament Support Equipment software team in St. Charles, MO.  The Embedded Software Engineer will develop software for the Automated Test Equipment (ATE) used primarily to test our armament products in the factory and in the field.


The selected engineer will work with a multi-disciplined engineering team to identify software requirements, design, implement, test, and deploy software on the ATE.  An electrical background is essential for understanding how to control the ATE equipment (lab equipment for analog and digital source and measurement, communications, power, and hardware simulation) and translate the requirements of testing, typically electrical and communications systems of the armament with the ATE, into software requirements.


The role also includes developing software verification plans and test procedures, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met. Assists team adoption of Enterprise Software design practices, processes, tools, DevSecOps environment, and metrics. Plans, executes and documents software research and development projects. Tracks and evaluates software team performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supports the design, development, test, debugging and maintenance of software that is integrated into embedded devices and systems and meets industry, customer, safety and regulation standards.
  • Assists with review, analysis, and translation of customer requirements into the design of software products for embedded devices and systems.
  • Supports building and writing code for embedded systems software to run on specific specialized hardware.
  • Contributes to integration of embedded software with hardware components.
  • Supports analysis, monitoring and improving the efficiency and stability of embedded software systems.
  • Participates in testing and debugging software for embedded devices and systems.
  • Supports implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and changes in regulations relevant to software development and hardware technologies.
  • Supports tracking and evaluation of internal and supplier software team performance to ensure product and process compliance to project plans and industry standards.
  • Assists with performing embedded software project management functions.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Ability to Obtain U.S. Secret clearance – Final Post-Start
  • 2+ years of experience with C, C++ or C#

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 2+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 6+ years of directly related work experience OR 10+ years of related, relevant experience
  • Leadership experience in Agile methodologies, prior scrum master experience preferred
  • Experience with National Instruments tools and components
  • Familiarity with development tools, such as Visual Studio, Git, and Jira
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues

Travel: Occasional travel may be required (less than 10%)

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary Pay Range: $99,450 - $134,550
