Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for aAvionics Systems Service Engineer (Experienced or Senior) to join their team in Seal Beach, CA.

Position Overview:

As an Avionics Systems Service Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to assist airline customers in resolving real-time technical problems and issues on Boeing Commercial airplanes. This includes answering general systems functionality inquiries, resolving short to medium-term problem reports, investigating long-term issues, and providing proactive fleet guidance. You will collaborate with operators to recover Aircraft on Ground (AOG) and address other time-sensitive situations affecting operations. This may require troubleshooting either remotely or on-site with the operator to return a grounded airplane to revenue service. All tasks will be accomplished utilizing the latest Boeing tools, technology, data analytics, and real-time fleet monitoring data.

Boeing Customer Support operates on a 24/7/365 basis. Employees must be willing to work flexible hours and/or non-standard shifts to support our fleets. International and domestic travel may be required.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical, design and informational support for basic production, product support or in-service issues.

  • Troubleshoots basic system problems consistent with operational protocols.

  • Supports and/or creates and provides basic technical documentation (e.g. Fleet Team Digest articles, Service Letters, Drawings, Specifications, documents, data sets, design folders, test requirements documents, manuals) in accordance with engineering processes and procedures for internal reference or external delivery.

  • Supports review of technical design, analysis, and production by reviewing documentation, participating in design reviews, and observing tests and audits to ensure compliance.

  • Assists with the investigation of problems to provide engineering design disposition of discrepancies.

  • Supports and/or leads the research of technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer.

  • Assists in designing and/or providing analysis of interim and final engineering solutions to return airplanes to revenue service.

  • Works with and possibly directs cross-functional teams to conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for complex design non-conformances.

  • Assists in the development of customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.

  • Assesses complex system event reports to determine potential safety issues.

  • Must be able to travel to Airlines to lead Technical / Executive review meetings and address complex technical issues.

Work Authorization:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Seal Beach, CA.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 3+ years of experience in an engineering discipline

  • 1+ years of project management experience

  • Able and willing to work off shift hours (24/7/365-day operation. Saturday and Sunday may be required workdays)

  • Willing and able to travel 10% of the time domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience in the area of Communications and Navigation (e.g. VHF/HF, SATCOM, LRRA, ISS, INR, TCAS, GPS)

  • Experience presenting to customers, stake holders and teams.

  • Ability to collaborate with multiple team functions

  • Willingness to expand into technical areas without prior experience

  • Desire to continuously improve our airplanes

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Pay and Benefits:

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary Pay Range:

Experienced (Level 3): $120,000 - $162,000

Senior (Level 4): $146,000 - $198,000
