The Boeing Commercial Airplanes organization is seeking a Deputy Fleet Chief (Senior or Principal) to support the 777 Fleet Chief Office in Seal Beach, California.

Position Overview:

The Deputy Fleet Chief (Senior or Principal) will be responsible for ensuring safe and economic operation of the 777 fleets. They will ensure that fleet-related (Airline) concerns are properly addressed; coordinate with management and others (inside and outside of the organization) regarding issues and concerns; represent and advocate for the airlines/customers at internal meetings; approve safety and major economic issues; approve plans and schedules and monitor timely resolution of in-service issues. Expectations as part of the Customer Support Team are to “Provide a superior customer experience, every time", 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week and 365 days a year. The successful candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills in addition to project management and integration experience and the incumbent must be able to travel to Airlines to support technical/executive review meetings and discuss timely resolution of issues. Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Deputy Fleet Chief (Senior or Principal).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Build and Maintain strong relationships with an assigned airline customers.

  • Advocate and develop highly innovative solutions for complex customer issues, concerns, and requirements with the Fleet Chief and to other Boeing internal organizations (be the “voice of the customer”).

  • Provide senior technical oversight to the 777 Fleet Team; which will include developing solutions for items raised on the Fleet Team Idea Exchange (FIX) bulletin board, providing senior technical leadership in Fleet Team meeting preparations, execution, and timely follow up of open items.

  • As required, attend and chair the following boards and meetings: Design Office Reviews, Change Boards, Fleet Team Integration and Project Reviews, In Service Investigation (ISI), Safety Review Board (SRB), Fleet Support Review Board (FSRB) and Service Related Problem (SRP) meetings.

  • Build and maintain good relationships with internal/external customers and suppliers (e.g. Supplier Management, Warranty, Fleet Support Engineering, Design Engineering and Material Management) and associated and other industry senior leaders.

  • Respond quickly to meet significant customer needs and resolve unusually complex problems with innovative/ingenious solutions. Perform in the capacity of a senior technical consultant/advisor to senior leadership on customer/fleet issues.

  • Maintain expert level of awareness of fleet, industry and regulatory issues.

  • Provide senior technical consultation to, and/or represent the Fleet Chief in conducting executive and technical review meetings and regional technical conferences as required.

  • International and domestic travel is necessary.

Travel Requirement:

Must be willing and able to travel 25% of the time domestically and internationally.

Work Authorization:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Seal Beach, California location.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, computer science, industrial engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Pay and Benefits:

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range:

  • Senior (Level 4): $146,200 - $197,800

  • Principal (Level 5): $176,800 - $239,200
