Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), M&P Engineering Organization is seeking a highly motivated Materials and Processes Engineering Manager to lead the Engineering Test and Certification Non-destructive Evaluation Team based in Tukwila, WA.

Position Overview:

BCA Engineering Materials & Processes (M&P) organization plays a crucial role in supporting all BCA Airplane programs, supply chain, fabrication, customer support, and BGS. Our organization is dedicated to driving innovation and delivering advanced materials and technology solutions throughout the product lifecycle.

Position responsibilities:

  • The ideal candidate will excel in both the M&P engineering technical excellence required for this role while also being an engaging and motivating people leader, including committing to: 

  • Manages, develops and motivates a team of roughly 20 M&P engineers and technicians within the Engineering Test and Certification M&P team specializing in Non Destructive Evaluation. .

  • Collaborates with Program, Fabrication, and Engineering leaders on Top priorities, RIO management, personnel certification, equipment qualifications and technology insertions.

  • Ensures the M&P team is meeting commitments on design development, design, liaison support, qualifications, and supply chain activities.

  • Manage and execute to budget, staffing, and metrics that evaluate the health of the business.

  • Inspiring and empowering team through collaboration, communication, and caring.

  • Building and nurturing an inclusive culture by seeking different perspectives, speaking up, and actively listening to teammates and stakeholders.

  • Ensuring an emotionally safe work environment where employees can freely and proactively raise safety, quality and schedule concerns as soon as they are known.

  • Leading the Quality Management team, and BCA NDT Certification Board as a leader of the NDT Certification Management system.

Work Authorization:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Tukwila, WA.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry

  • 5+ years of experience in taking new technology trends and bringing them into production (e.g.; technical experience in Aerospace or Manufacturing industries)

  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership"

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in Materials & Process Engineering

  • Working knowledge of Non Destructive Evaluation and it place within the Boeing community

  • Airplane program experience

  • Team leadership and/or management experience

  • Experience with team building, developing and motivating employees

  • Strong communication skills and working with executive leaders

  • Ability to adapt to a changing statement of work

Pay and Benefits:

Summary Pay Range:

$147,000 - $199,000
