Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is currently seeking a Quality Systems Specialist to join the Repair Station Administration (RSA) team located in Tukwila, Washington.

Evaluate the design and lead the continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS) for a large FAA Part 145 certificated repair station performing aircraft‑level maintenance/modifications and component maintenance.

Serve as the primary SMS interface with FAA, National Aviation Authorities (NAA), customers, and internal repair station stakeholders and leaders; integrate SMS across Quality, Operations, Engineering, and Training to ensure effective safety risk controls and regulatory compliance.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and drive the repair station SMS manual, safety policy, procedures, and supporting documentation consistent with FAA, NAA and ICAO guidance. Maintain alignment with the Boeing Enterprise SMS program

  • Oversee hazard identification via safety reporting and both reactive and proactive risk assessments

  • Manage incident/occurrence investigations and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) processes; ensure timely corrective action implementation, verification, and closure

  • Define, monitor, and report Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs) and dashboards to senior leadership; translate safety data into prioritized mitigation plans

  • Coordinate internal safety assurance audits and serve as primary contact for FAA and NAA surveillance, customer audits, and third‑party assessments

  • Integrate SMS into change management processes including initiation of new repair station capabilities, additional fixed locations, and satellite repair station locations; ensure risk decision-making criteria is embedded in operational decisions

  • Design and deliver SMS, human factors, and investigation training programs for technicians, engineers, and repair station leadership

  • Mentor and lead the repair station SMS key safety personnel; collaborate cross‑functionally with repair station Quality, Operations, Engineering, and other organizations to embed a positive safety culture

  • Maintain relationships with FAA and NAA principal maintenance inspectors, major customers, and industry safety forums; represent the company in regulatory and customer meetings

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Quality or directly related work

  • 3+ years of experience managing complex projects

  • 3+ years supporting cross-functional teams

  • 3+ years of experience identifying and communicating business requirements with cross-functional and/or cross-business teams

  • 3+ years of experience leading teams and/or leading initiatives

  • 3+ years of experience working directly with executives or senior leaders

  • Ability to lead through influence

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience working with Aviation Safety Management Systems

  • Bachelor's degree or higher

  • Formal SMS implementation training and industry recognized SMS credentials

  • 10+ years of experience in aviation including FAA Part 21, Part 121, Part 135 and Part 145

  • Currently hold an FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license or you are currently enrolled full-time or part-time in an A&P certificate program

  • Certifications in incident investigation/ Root Cause Corrective Action (e.g., Boeing Problem Solving Model; Maintenance Error Decision Aid), human factors (HFACS) and Lead Auditor training for AS9001/AS9110

  • Experience with international regulatory requirements (EASA or other aviation regulatory authorities) and working with global customers

Summary Pay Range: $125,800 - $170,200
