Position Overview:

Boeing is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our team on a new program in Albuquerque, NM developing and testing advanced concepts for the Department of Defense. This position will include work in mechanical design for optical systems, thermal analyses, structural analyses, and integration of subsystems. The ideal candidate will have experience with SolidWorks, NX, or other CAD software and Finite Element Analysis.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Designs mechanical systems to meet system requirements.

  • Supports the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment.

  • Supports the development, maintenance or modification of system designs to provide design documentation and high-level requirements

  • Performs detail design development and modification of mechanical and fluid system installations.

  • Performs spatial integration at system or component level and modification of mechanisms/landing gear/ordinance systems.

  • Assists in preparing technical documents for mechanical components and systems.

This position requires an active U.S.  Secret Security Clearance (US Citizenship Required) with a Top Secret/SCI required after hire.  (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.) 

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 3+ years of experience working with finite element models / simulations using one or more of the following: PATRAN, NASTRAN, ABAQUS, ANSYS, Hypermesh, LS-Dyna, Optistruct

  • 3+ years of experience do you have in using computer-aided design (CAD) tools to design Mechanical components

  • 3+ years of experience assembling, repairing, and testing mechanical and electrical components and systems

  • 3+ years of experience with structural design or the design of mechanical sub-systems or components

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience):

  • Active Top Secret Clearance

  • 3+ years of experience working with computer aided design such as CATIA, Solidworks, or Siemens NX

  • 3+ years of experience with optical mount design

Typical Education/Experience: 

Associate (Level 2): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Experienced (Level 3): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. NOTE: Basic relocation is available for internal candidates, based on candidate eligibility.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range (associate, level 2): $76,500 - $103,500

Summary pay range (experienced, level 3): $95,200 - $128,800

Summary pay range (senior, level 4): $115,600 - $156,400
