Please be aware, this role is not suitable for remote work.

This position will lead a team of Mission Planning specialists and Systems Administrators to deliver Mission Planning Systems outcome to Super Hornet and Growler aircrew.

Having a Defence Operational Mission Planning System background, strong technical knowledge and the ability to manage a diverse team will prove invaluable in this position.

JOB SUMMARY:

As the Team Leader, within the operational flying unit of Number 82 Wing, you will be responsible for delivering Mission Planning Capability through the prioritisation and management of the Mission Planning Environment for the Air Combat Electronic Attack Sustainment Program (ACEASP) with Boeing Defence Australia (BDA). Located at RAAF Base Amberley, you will be part of the ICT Operations team that is a key contributor to the program which employs the best talent to develop and deliver world class capabilities and systems to protect Australia and its national interests.

As the Mission Planning Specialist/Team Lead you will:

  • Support Mission planning and debriefing to F/A-18F & EA-18G aircrew as part of a collaborative mission delivery team.
  • Collaborate and communicate across a multi-disciplined work environment.
  • Act as an engaging facilitator, bringing out the best in team members with varying levels of experience.
  • Plan, develop and implement designed solutions to technical problems.
  • Be available to travel both domestically and internationally on an infrequent basis to conduct activities.
  • Support multiple software systems to build a key BDA software development environment.
  • Collaborate with project managers, systems and software engineers throughout the engineering lifecycle to meet design & support requirements.


About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Prior Operational Mission Planning Systems experience across multiple IT disciplines ideally with 3+ years' experience in similar roles.
  • Leadership skills to effectively manage a team of Mission Planning Specialists and System Administrators.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts to a broad and diverse audience.
  • Experience dealing with classified defence environments.
  • Ability & Willingness to gain up to Top Secret (Positive Vetting) Security Clearance.


CORE EXPERTISE:

  • Operational Mission Planning Environment knowledge and skills with expertise in supporting MPE to deliver operational and/or tactical outcomes for the operator.
  • A knowledge and understanding of the aircrew Mission Planning Cycle.
  • Experience in prioritising and managing tasks to support a diverse team of highly skilled system administrators.


DESIRABLE SKILLS:

Knowledge of:

  • Systems Administration and support for Corporate and Secret environments.
  • Microsoft Windows Server.
  • Active Directory, Group Policy.
  • Network configuration and management.
  • Cyber Security certification.
  • Knowledge and/or familiarity with the ISM/PSPF Frameworks.
