BR&T is looking for an Associate Automation and Robotics Engineer (Level 2) to join our team in Berkeley, MO, located in the greater Saint Louis area. We are looking for a broad range of experience including Associate, Mid-Level, and Lead Automation and Robotics Engineers.

The chosen candidate will support the St. Louis Advanced Production & Automation group. We are an engineering team which is responsible for creating and implementing technical solutions that drive innovation into the aircraft production system. This team begins with ideas and concepts and delivers implementable hardware/software solutions that support multiple programs which includes but is not limited to F-15, F-18, MQ-25 and T-7A aircraft. We also lead non-program specific research and development efforts for our DoD customers in alignment with technical consortiums. The externally focused efforts for our DoD customers help to set the edge for what’s next in the production of next-generation defense products.

The chosen candidate will support the development of predictive assembly technology with systems engineering analysis, measurement analysis and development of the software code base and predictive algorithms. The engineer will need to collaborate with the measurement engineering, software engineering and information technology teams. In addition, the chosen candidate will be knowledgeable of aircraft structures and have experience with Finite Element Modeling.  

The chosen candidate will be motivated, self-driven and will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. The candidate will work in a team environment to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity. The candidate will be expected to work under general supervision from a team leader. The candidate will support various projects, including research, test, development and implementation for the Advanced Production System team 100% in-person. Some of the work we perform may take us to locations outside of the St. Louis metropolitan area. Therefore, there will be times when business travel is required.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assists with definition of requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and/or maintenance of Boeing products

  • Drafts engineering specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes

  • Assists in evaluation of emerging technologies for potential application to business needs

  • Assists with development and qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements

  • Performs routine tests and audits to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements

  • Conducts routine analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes

  • Assists in implementing corrective and preventive actions

  • Develops computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements

  • Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements.

  • Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 1+ years of experience in engineering in industrial robotics, industrial controls & PLCs, sensor integration, or related automation for an application in a private, government, or military environment.

  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language

  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time minimum

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 2+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Experience working in multi-discipline teams, a strong desire to work with technical and non-technical customers

  • Experience working with FEM tools

  • Knowledge of aircraft structural components

  • Experience with project management tools

  • Excellent time management skills to manage several simultaneous projects effectively and across various geographical locations

  • Experience in robotic software for controls, motion planning, simulation, and sensor integration

  • Experience with ROS2

  • Experience with ladder logic for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), preferably Allen Bradley or Siemens

  • Understanding of robot kinematics and dynamics

  • Proficiency in C++ and/or Python

  • Experience with software development lifecycle in a team

  • Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance

Summary pay range: $77,350 - $104,650
