The Boeing Company is looking for Software Quality Engineers (Associate or Experienced) to join our Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) organization in Berkeley, MO.

Our team of highly motivated, customer-focused engineers’ partner with BDS programs to help develop and maintain a culture of first-time quality throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). As a member of this team, you have the autonomy and responsibility to work with programs to assure the process for developing, controlling, and verifying software products is planned and executed, effectively improving the quality of our software products – whether developed by Boeing or provided by suppliers.

The quality engineers will utilize their software development and process expertise to effectively guide and influence project decisions. The selected candidate must work well with minimum direction, be self-motivated, with strong written and verbal communication skills, along with well-developed interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate and maintain a psychologically safe work environment.

Our teams are currently hiring for broad range of experience levels including; Associate and Experienced Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform software quality audits and assessments of software engineering processes and associated support functions

  • Participate in the development of Supplier Statements of Work (SSOWs) and perform supplier oversight and evaluation throughout the supplier’s Software Development Lifecycle

  • Identifies non-conformances, issues corrective actions, and supports Root Cause Analysis (RCA’s) and improvement initiatives

  • Maintains software quality engineering program plans and support program milestone and formal review meetings, occasionally preparing and presenting information

  • Support the analysis of project software quality metrics to improve software quality and manage risk

  • Act as an independent set of eyes and ears for Program Managers and the customer, highlighting potential best practices on the team, as well as areas for improvement

  • Actively participate in project activities, from proposal and planning to acceptance and software delivery

  • Uses established criteria to review, comment and recommend approval of software life cycle documents and program work products

  • Uses established procedures and methods to perform final reconciliation of simple software data products

  • Assists in configuration management activities such as software product release and change control boards

  • Improves products and processes and manage risk

  • Monitors or witnesses test activity to established test plans and procedures; verifies pre-test set up is according to required system configuration; assists with verification of test results to performance requirements

  • Assists in verifying the acceptability of segments of the supplier's software quality systems and programs

  • Works under general supervision

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  Ability to obtaininterim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance (Post-Start).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 1 or more years of experience in the Software Development lifecycle (including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test

  • 1 or more years of experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • 3 or more years of software quality engineering experience supporting software with AS9115, DO-178, and/or MIL-STD-882E requirements

  • 3 or more years of experience with Software Development Processes

  • Experience with DevSecOps and associated tools

  • Experience with Project Management of products developed using Agile software development practices and tools (JIRA)

Typical Education/Experience:

Associate (Level 2):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Experienced (Level 3):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Travel:

Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.

This position is for 1st shift.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range for Associate level: $73,100 - $98,900
Summary pay range for Experienced level: $89,250 - $120,750
