BIETC (Chennai) Design Integration organization is seeking Engineering Manager - Mechanical & Interiors/Structures for a high‑impact role based out of Chennai.

The manager will work with their team and respective Global counterparts to ensure all SoW requirements and business outcomes are achieved. As part of the Design integration leadership team, you will give accurate, timely status updates, coordinate program initiatives, respond to information requests, and communicate strategies to the appropriate design engineering teams.

Position responsibilities:

  • Lead Design Engineering teams for interior design in payloads/modifications portfolio for BCA/BGS, in support of various programs.
  • Develop project or operational plans aligned with functional and program objectives. Implement plans to ensure business, technical and customer requirements are achieved. Assign authority and responsibilities to employees to execute the plan. Reviews plans' execution, makes appropriate adjustments, and resolves issues. Monitors appropriate metrics to ensure performance to plan.
  • Forecasts resource needs and make hiring decisions. Coaches, counsels, mentors and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities. Ensure employees are working effectively with all development teams. Provides on-going developmental feedback and conducts performance reviews. Enforces company rules and policies regarding ethical behavior, safety, security, use of company property, time charging, etc.
  • Establish Engineering process as per Boeing and aerospace standards. Ensure they are documented and followed by the teams to meet the Process compliance.
  • Partner and engage with internal and external stakeholders, maintain relationships/partnerships with internal customers, peers and partners to develop strategies, goals and objectives that are consistent with the organization’s strategy. The position will be pivotal in creating and maintaining relationships with the Global teams and working closely with those stakeholders in planning and forecasting activities of the team as well as reporting requirements from stakeholders.
  • Shall draw upon domain expertise to resolve complex technical problems associated with design or production support activities.
  • Provide periodic updates to senior management in the form of progress reports, project summaries, and other related documents.
  • Must foster an innovative work environment leading to identification of opportunities for improvements in product, process, quality, and productivity.
  • Support or lead Technical Design Reviews, change boards and program gate reviews.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering is required as a BASIC QUALIFICATION.
  • Strong technical knowledge of certification processes and airplane interior system requirements for production and modification.
  • Solid project and program management skills.
  • Able to drive complex projects to close on schedule.
  • Experience in resolving technical and organizational issues and delivering successful projects.
  • Able to manage multiple competing tasks and priorities using project- and time-management methods.
  • Clear, concise communication of technical and non-technical issues; able to summarize and present to senior executives (verbal and written).
  • Able to prepare comprehensive reports, proposals, and Statements of Work; fluent in English and proficient with digital tools and collaborative environment.
  • Able to coordinate with all teams critical to executing program statements of work.
  • Experience developing and executing project/process plans, implementing policies and procedures, and setting operational goals.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports, comfortable engaging with senior external stakeholders.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.
  • Demonstrated engineering expertise across product development phases: design, build, test, certification, and fleet support.
  • Practical knowledge of aircraft system design, development, and testing, and a thorough understanding of aircraft requirements at multiple levels.
  • Familiarity with Safety and Airworthiness standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., FAA).
  • Domain experience in Aircraft Interiors design and installation Experience with Boeing platforms preferred
  • Strong aptitude for team building and people development; able to manage, develop, and motivate employees.
  • Flexible and resilient, with high tolerance for organizational complexity and the ability to work effectively with internal and external partners.
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude, high ethics, and a proven track record of performing under pressure in time-constrained environments.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Relevant experience with Boeing Process, Products/Programs and Tools.
  • Team leadership experience, Experience with Lean /Continuous improvement process.
  • Tools: CATIA, PLM- Enovia/PDM, DOORS, IVT, FEA tools ANSYS/NASTRAN

Typical Education & Experience:

Bachelor of Engineering degree with 13+ years or Masters with 12+ years of relevant experience.
