This role will be based out of Chennai, India.

Position Overview:

The Boeing Software Engineering team is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to join the team in Chennai, TN. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Commercial, Defense, and Global Services business organizations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage the design, development, testing, and deployment of software solutions.

  • Manage information assurance activities related to the sustainment of deployed software solutions, including monitoring, analysis, and remediation of security vulnerabilities that could impact software components and applications in the deployed network environment.

  • Ensure all deliverables are provided on schedule and within budget.

  • Ensure the quality of software, documentation, and services provided by the team meet or exceed customer expectations.

  • Coordinate and communicate unique requirements of software development efforts to upper management and business partners to ensure team requirements are met.

  • Plan and track progress toward meeting goals for future IT capabilities that support the software development efforts.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s/ Master's degree (B.tech/M.tech) or higher is required as a BASIC QUALIFICATION

  • Ability to manage multiple teams and work scopes covering software development, software testing, security analysis and patch testing, and field support (software installation, testing, and training).

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills for team and customer interactions and for documenting and presenting technical issues clearly and understandably.

  • Understand the level of detail required for completeness of any project deliverable.

  • Ability to track progress toward completion of various work scopes and provide accurate status reporting against planned budgets and schedules.

  • Ability to sufficiently learn the applications and systems to answer questions regarding operational use and to discuss potential future enhancements.

  • Ability to adjust to changing priorities.

  • Experience leading a software development team; project management experience is a plus.

  • Solid experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and tools used to support SDLCs, including:

    • Requirements management systems

    • Source code repositories

    • Code review systems

    • Build management tools

    • Issue tracking systems

    • Test management systems

  • Experience with or understanding of Agile software development practices

  • Experience or strong understanding of developing Java applications

  • Experience or strong understanding of developing RESTful services

  • Experience with open-source software

  • Experience or strong understanding of databases

  • Experience with Jira

  • Experience or strong understanding in .Net, Java and Python

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or familiarity with Python is a plus

  • Experience with machine learning / deep learning is a plus.

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 12 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+11 years' related work experience).
