The Boeing Company is seeking a Lead Insurance, Litigation, and Claims Manager to join the team in Chicago, IL.

This role provides a unique opportunity to experience many facets of insurance claims and risk management within a complex and dynamic company. The Lead Insurance, Litigation, and Claims Manager will be an integral member of the Boeing Risk Management and Insurance team, assisting in the handling and/or management of a wide range of insured claims and litigation involving the Company and its subsidiaries.

The selected candidate must be licensed to practice law in at least one jurisdiction and in good standing with the state bar.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the management of insured litigation and claims with respect to asbestos bodily injury, environmental/pollution liabilities, and other toxic tort matters

  • Manages litigation and claims under the Company's casualty insurance programs (e.g., premises liability, auto liability)

  • Assists with and/or pursue claims under the Company's first party property and marine/transit insurance lines and related subrogation claims

  • Assists with financial services insurance claims, such as employment practices liability, cyber, crime, and fiduciary liability insurance  

  • Assists with the insurance function in the due diligence process for corporate development activities, including mergers, acquisitions, joint venture establishment, and divestitures

  • Leads projects related to collection of documentation concerning historical insurance coverage and other insurance claims-related special projects

  • Provides insurance coverage advice and assists with policy language review and interpretation with respect to all coverage lines involving the company

  • Cultivates relationships and works collaboratively with the Company's outside counsel, brokers, and insurer representatives

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience working at a law firm, insurance broker/company or risk management department

  • Academic qualification with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills are required to succeed in this position as well as presentation and facilitation skills to work with cross-functional groups in establishing and achieving common goals

  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Trial experience

  • Experience with asbestos litigation

  • General working knowledge of insurance coverage issues involving a broad range of coverage lines.

  • Experience interacting firsthand with insurance companies, brokers, and/or counsel.

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 15 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+13 years' related work experience, 19 years' related work experience, etc.).

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range: $141,950 - $192,050
