Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking Senior Payloads Engineers (Level 4 or Level 5) to join our Payload Design Engineering team based in Everett, Washington.

As a Senior Payloads Engineer, you will have a statement of work that spans the product lifecycle: supporting customer configuration development, supplier engagement, validating and verifying design requirements, integrating business needs, and supporting the product through the production and certification processes. Your work will also include the need to interface with other members of project engineering, production engineering, program/product teams, management, and technical staff to define and implement engineering solutions. You will be able to combine the expertise and resources of the interiors organization to certify and deliver the best interiors products within the industry.

The ideal candidate comes with an experiencein any of the following areas:

  • Requirements Definition, Validation, and Verification

  • Functional Hazard and Systems Safety Assessments

  • Validating/demonstrating compliance to regulatory requirements

  • Aircraft cargo compartment and handling system design, integration, and/or certification

Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Senior Payload Engineers (level 4 or Level 5).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads the development, integration and documentation of interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.

  • Performs or oversees approval of analyses and test/inspection results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.

  • Leads teams on managing supplier performance, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.

  • Leads the development of new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.

  • Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.

  • Lead teams to develop, maintain and modify structural and interior payload system and component design, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. (Everett, WA)

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 9+ years of experience in Structure and/or Payload Design Engineering.

  • 9+ years of experience with commercial airplanes or commercial derivatives.

  • 5+ years of experience with REDARS, CATIA, ENOVIA & PSDS.

  • Experience leading a cross-functional team.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 10+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong understanding and demonstrated experience with FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent.

  • 5+ years of freighter aircraft experience.

  • Experience in aerospace interiors, materials and properties, design criteria and release processes.

  • 9+ years of experience in program or project management, leading project and/or program proposals of varying complexity (including: development and execution of schedule milestones, financial assessments, resource assessments, risk and/or issues management, etc.).

  • Ability to use a variety of media to clearly convey information and ideas to a variety of audiences

Typical Education/Experience:

Senior (Level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 5): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range for Senior (Level 4): $120,700 - $163,300

Summary pay range for Senior (Level 5): $143,650 - $194,350
