Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Setup Person Powered Hand Toolsto join our Materials Management & Tooling team inEverett, Washington.

As a Setup Person for Powered Hand Tools, you will be essential in ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in our operations. Your expertise will be critical in analyzing work requirements, prioritizing tasks, and implementing processes that enhance efficiency. You will be responsible for cleaning, setting up, and maintaining a variety of specialized external tools, ensuring they function properly and meet Boeing specifications. Your attention to detail will be vital as you perform visual and functional checks on tools, troubleshoot any issues, and manage inventory effectively. Additionally, you will assist production teams in selecting the appropriate power equipment for various jobs, ensuring that all tools are in optimal condition for safe operation.

Position Responsibilities

  • Analyze work in the area, determine priorities, and sequence tasks based on customer requirements. 

  • Develop, update, and implement processes and procedures as required. 

  • Clean, set up, maintain, and perform minor repairs on specialized external tools per Boeing specifications and Hole Set-up Pre-Sheets (HPSS). 

  • Clean and adjust sealing equipment to ensure proper functionality. 

  • Perform visual and functional checks on tools and accessories, inspecting for damage. 

  • Select, install, and adjust cutting tools, bushings, guides, and locators for powered hand tools, and load program information using precision measuring tools. 

  • Investigate and troubleshoot power tool problems to determine causes of malfunctions and recommend improvements. 

  • Receive tools, equipment, and supplies to support the shop, logging in receivables using various computer programs. 

  • Assist production in determining the correct power equipment for jobs and conduct necessary tests. 

  • Manage inventory of tools, shop supplies, and materials, auditing periodically for accuracy. 

  • Arrange for the loan of tools and equipment as required. 

  • Send power tools to the tool repair area for maintenance and repair of internal drive and feed mechanisms. 

  • Use and update various information systems to perform assigned tasks and maintain thorough inventory recording and control systems. 

  • Inspect the contents of toolboxes and issue hold-out notices as required. 

  • Train and assist other employees with functions, methods, and procedures by sharing information and answering questions. 

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs. to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties. 

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience working with precision measuring tools.​

  • 1+ year of experience working with powered hand tools.​

  • 1+ years of experience as a machinist, mechanic or other mechanical aptitudes.​

  • 1+ years of experience working with detailed work instructions or reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.

  • 1+ years of experience working with safety and quality processes and procedures​

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).​

  • Possess a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Inventory Management.

Typical Education & Experience:

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Summary pay range: $26.00 –$51.39
