This is a new role within our EASA Part 21J Commercial Modifications Team based in Hamburg, Germany; working with the global EASA commercial modifications teams (that are based in Sao Paulo - Brazil, Frimley - UK, Dublin - Ireland, Istanbul – Turkiye, Munich – Germany, Kiev – Ukraine).

THE ROLE:

Boeing Global Services are looking for a multi-skilled Seat Integration Engineer (Experienced or Lead) (M/F/D) to join the Commercial Modifications Team – Europe, to support the design and certification of aircraft seating products, with the Boeing Commercial Airplanes business unit, to produce STCs that allow for the post-delivery installation of new seating products.

This role will require occasional national and/or international travel to visit teammates, customers and subcontractors,withhybrid working options.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review Supplier data for integration approval of seats into the airframe, including review of:

  • Seat envelope drawings
  • Seat egress plans
  • Deleathilisation plans
  • Static and dynamic test plans
  • Seat block diagrams
  • Flammability test plans and reports
  • Placard installation drawings
  • Lifevest retrieval test report
  • Seat trim and finish report (CMF document)

• Approval of non-TSO seat items

• Compilation of LOPA drawings

• Direct View analysis

• Liaise with Boeing Commercial Airplanes teams to ensure aircraft cabin is delivered in the correct condition to install seats post-delivery via STC

• Compilation of seat installation SB

• Reporting to the Engineering Manager and working with the global engineering services team, across multiple time-zones, in order to identify engineering requirements and solutions for active and upcoming cabin interior projects

• To be a technical focal for engineering and certification issues relating to integration of airplane seating post-production delivery

• Act as Boeing representative during customer meetings such as ITCM, PDR, CDR and FAI in support of active and up-coming projects. Provide additional on-site support to assist the customers’ during the embodiment phase of the project

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 5 years' experience in related commercial aircraft design fields

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • 8 years' experience in related commercial aircraft design fields
  • Current or recent employment within the aerospace industry working with an EASA Part 21, Subpart J Design Organisation (or equivalent)
  • Able to demonstrate a working understanding of EASA regulatory and applicable airworthiness requirements including CS-25, JAR-25 and FAR 25 requirements
  • Knowledge and experience of aircraft interior modification programmes with a high level of attention to detail and capability of reviewing design packages
  • A high level of attention to detail and professional integrity
  • Ability to work on multiple programmes with varying level of requirements efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and show flexibility to changing situations / demands (ability to manage time and tasks to shifting deadlines)
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues and customers to embody the core values of the business: Honesty, Integrity and Transparency
  • Willing to help develop, mentor and coach less experienced staff
  • Experience navigating OEM data systems for specifications and standards
